Unable to stream both sides of a Skype call
Hello-
I've got a strange situation regarding broadcasting both sides of a Skype call to a Shoutcast server. The server is run by someone else, so I don't have the specs on it, but I can describe my setup. When someone calls me on Skype (or I call them, either way), the host (broadcaster) comes in fine on the stream, but the person with whom the call is being conducted comes in really faint, as though they are in the background somewhere. When I look at the input meters on the plugin, I come in strong at the top of the meter (or the other party does when they are hosting the call), but the meters do not move above -45 db when the other party speaks. This has happened on my laptop, my desktop, and the other party's laptop. This has also happened with multiple different Skype callers attempting to broadcast to this server. I have the DSP plugin 1.9.0, and the Soundcard Input is set as the input device. I have tried both the microphone and the line input, to no avail. To answer your questions on specs: -PC or Motherboard make/model - Toshiba Satellite -CPU & RAM - Celeron M 1.69 GHz -Sound card or chip - RealTek HD Audio (on board), SB Live! 24-bit External (USB) - neither works -Videocard - ATI Radeon Express 200M -Windows OS (including Service Pack, eg. WinXP sp2) - WinXPsp2 -DirectX version (start > run > dxdiag) - 9.0c -Winamp version (eg. 5.31) - 5.3 -Confirmation of the Winamp installation type (Pro, Full, Bundle, Lite) - Full -Whether you chose 'separate' or 'shared' user settings on the multi-user page of the installer options - Shared Thanks in advance for your help - the FAQs that I read didn't seem to fully address this issue. |

check your mixer levels, or try changing the input selector to soundcard. also chk that the playback "select" on your mixer is set for "stereo" input and not just 1 input eg."wave" or " microphone"
i havent used scype with shoutcast but im sure its just like every other input issue hope this helps

I've gone through pretty much every setting on both the on-board sound card and the USB external while on Skype with the person maintaining the stream. I'm somewhat out of ideas at this point.

the only othe sudjestion i have is running 2 computers and run the output of your skype on 1 computer , into the 2nd stream computer then off to the broadcast serv. you could play with multiple soundcards but windows tends to want to only use 1 at a time.
ps: remember to use headphones if you use the stereo input selection while the microphone is unmuted ![]() idealy you could premix your entire broadcast and run it into the stream server line input. (multichanel mixing board mixing: multi efx rack, playback sequencing players, midi, telephone, ect...)
