Winamp failing to close and ratings menu slightly altered
Since updating to 5.32 (from some version before 5.31) I've been experiencing a strange problem with Winamp.
Upon closure winamp.exe occasionally remains open as a background task, you can see it in the task manager. If you open and close winamp again, another winamp.exe often joins the last winamp.exe, until eventually many copies of winamp are running behind the scenes even though visually it appears closed. Once enough instances of winamp have stacked up, opening anymore takes a very long time, making using winamp near impossible without first going into task manager and killing all winamp.exes that have stacked there. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know whats wrong/what to do about it? I've tried a clean uninstall and reinstall to no avail. The other minor niggle is that the ratings menu (right click on track -> Rate Items) no tick appears next to what a file is currently rated, this used to happen but seems not to anymore, the blank space for a tick is still there, but the tick isn't. Is this just a bug or has it been edited out for a reason? Hi,
I had a quick look at your HijackThis log, and I see you're running MS ActiveSync. New in Winamp 5.32 is pmp_activesync.dll, a plugin that provides Windows Mobile devices support. Perhaps try disabling that plugin to see if something's going wrong there. You can disable the plugin by renaming it to eg. pmp_activesync.off while Winamp is closed. Plugins are stored in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins Other plugins you could try disabling... pmp_njb.dll (Creative NJB devices plugin) ml_xpdxs.dll (Predixic MusicMagic, a buggy third-party plugin bundled with Winamp) As for the rating tick not showing up, not sure about that. It works fine here. Are your files in the Media Library database? Are you using the classic theme in Windows, or the newer XP style? (just trying to think of possible factors here) |

Seems disabling the active sync plug-in fixed it, early days yet but Winamp seems to be closing properly on first inspection.
With the ratings I can view them in the ratings column (so they appear to be in the database), but when I right click on an individual track and go down to "rate item" there is no tick next to any of the ratings as there used to be. The skin I'm using is the Modern skin (Blue, curvy). |

Any ideas RE: the ratings change?

The same thing is happening for me.
I can see the checkmarked rating in the Rate Items menu in the Playlist Editor window, but not in the Rate Items menu in the Local Media views in the ML. Unless no-one else can reproduce, I suspect it to be a bug... |
