Just ordered...

Pelican 1554 Case
Pelican 1521 Foam Set
Pelican 1120 Case

Dad wants to get a Pelican case for a couple of his handguns, so I suggested that he take my 1520. Right now, I've got a Pelican 1524 (a 1520 with padded divider set) that I'm using for my digital photo gear. It's a tad on the small side, so I'm going to replace it with the 1554 that I just ordered. The 1521 Foam Set that I just ordered will replace the 1525 Padded Divider Set that came in my 1524 case, and dad will be able to use that to transport and store a couple of his sidearms. I'll just take the 1525 Padded Divider Set out of the 1524 case (essentially making it at 1520 case) and use it for extra pieces towards my new 1554 case. The 1120 case will replace the little leather pouch that my Fuji point & shoot camera is currently in. Woot.

new drone and chanter reeds. I'm playing my highland bagpipes at a good pal's wedding on Monday and bought some new reeds to have my pipes sounding as good as possible. It'll be a lovely day up an organic farm above Napa. So warm that i may have to go commando in my kilt. The girls love that. you'd be amazed at how often i get quarters dropped in front of me.

Well seeing as you're mentioning this roller-coaster ride of consumer purchasing, the last thing I bought was a bus ticket!

Tis a great store.

My main problem is actually being able to afford what I want from there. $325 for a copper core wok, though VERY nice, is a bit steep.

That and, if you wait for a deal at CHEFS you can generally make out OK....

I wouldn't buy items like The KitchenAid Pro from them, but I've bought smaller copper pots and tons of do-dads from 'em..and White Lily Flour, which is hard to get in the North.

I'm staggered, $325 for a wok.

If what you're interested in is good cooking then the best woks cost no more that a fiver from the Chinese supermarket. They are large and thin and made of steel and have exactly the right characteristics for that style of cooking, hot at the bottom and cool up the sides.

I was shocked with the wok too... however, it does have a copper core, and depending upon how much copper is actually in that core....

The problem with carbon fiber woks (Chinese markets) is the fact that carbon fiber is easy to make hotter than the dickens because it can be so thin; however, it heats very unevenly.

I was looking at that one from Willams Sonoma that I posted until I noticed the price tag. Then I decided my carbon fiber one had a lot of life left in it yet.

I got mine from a garage sale for $2. Carbon steel (you have to keep it seasoned and oiled) . Works perfect. Must be 20 years old.

I never tried a *******fiber wok, but with the right technique.... Wok cooking should be with oil that's hotter than the blazes of hell.... You need a good stove exhaust fan. Even heating? Hotter than hell or hotter than hell
