I hope you know that you have to rename it as in_mpc.dll or it won't be loaded if you leave the 31415 or what ever number is at the begining of it. I have no files to test with but Winamp loaded it and I was able to open the configuration.

Is a 'Allow 24bit' setting really supported? I checked this option but DirectSound output and WaveOut output still shows 16bit. I have Winamp 5.35. On ogg and mp3 files it works fine.

some of the mpc files i have don't work when using this. im positive it's not the fault of the file as well, as they have worked before. after using this new plug in, over 7/8's of my mpc files won't work.

Do the Musepack files that DO NOT work with this plugin have ID3v2 tags? I've been using this plugin since it was first posted and I have not had a single MPC file that does not work.

..just trying to figure out what's different between your files and mine.

Try downloading Tag from http://www.rarewares.org/others.php (rarewares.org) and run it on the files that you have with the --removeid3v2 parameter. I don't know if that's your problem or if the Winamp plugin can't handle MPC with ID3v2 but it's an idea.

Works great. However, I do not have that many MPC's to test. The configuration panel needs some work, but you already know that :-).
What works:
- importing into ML
- playing them

That's why I suggested to remove them. Those tags violate the specs and it would make sense if those "corrupt" files wouldn't play. I haven't had a single problem with ANY of my musepack collection.

Thanks for not forgetting about this format that has very little activity nowadays.

The devs are very busy with Winamp 5.36 beta at the moment (see sticky at top of this forum). Once we get the next Winamp release out of the way, then hopefully there'll be time for someone to look at in_mpc and bring it up-to-date.

Probably not, I guess the plug-in will be aviable as an extra download, maybe it will be included in the Essentials Pack in one of the next updates, Lord knows.

But the plug-in needs some love, before it's worth to bundle it in any installer, heh.

in_mpc from this thread has not been updated to any of the newer api specs especially with the album art stuff and common file editor support. there's no real eta on having this worked on so you'll have to sit it out until/if something is posted in this from one of the dev team.

Right now it might be better to wait a bit anyway, otherwise it'll have to be updated again once SV8 is finalized.

Any feedback is welcome :-)
It was time...
Was waiting for ages for native support...

All my CDs are encoded with .mpc -insane

So for me this is fine and works without any troubles, and I don't care if some say this format is dead

I would hope, you will implement the SV8 profile shortly

best,

Eliot.

When I edit tag with 'edit selected item', it's works.

Thanks.

Plugin works fine, isn't it time to release official final version? I think that eight months of beta testing is enough to see if it's working and as I see no changes made to plugin itself, it could be approved and released as final. Unless you're waiting for SV8 to be finished and then write compatible plugin. If so, don't keep us waiting without any information about official Nullsoft MPC support.

I'll be glad for any information connected with topic.

Download link broken

The download link in the first posting (stashbox.org) seems to be broken: "You don't have permission to view this file".

Any other place where one can get this plugin?

FWIW, if some dev needs a handy list, here's what's wrong for me :
- the transcoder doen't work (maybe th ereplaygain calculator too)
- non latin (cyrillic etc) characters are tranformet into question marks
- the about box mentions the following url www.nullsoft.com/free/mpc, wich provides a 404

Now would probably not be the best time to bring this codec up to date, since Musepack's new SV8 format has yet to be finalized (it's still in beta). This is such a rare format, I doubt Nullsoft would update it very often. So it's best to make a big one that counts and gets it all finalized, rather than updating now so that yet another update will be needed for SV8 support.

To be completely honest, with the improvements in MP3 (the LAME encoder, specifically) and Ogg Vorbis formats during the many years that Musepack has remained almost completely stagnant, I wonder if MPC is a relevant codec anymore.

Problem

The plugin doesn't work to transcode from mpc to accplus, it say that it cannot find the decoder... see you.

Known and already mentioned a few times previously in this thread.
Alas, no-one's had any spare time to work on in_mpc recently.
Maybe it'll happen eventually...
