heyas!
im just wondering with the option "Sync only songs that are in of the marked playlists" as i understand this will limit the files on a sync. maybe im wrong and it is autofill? no matter which _should_ be limited, none of them do, or i am too stupid ;( here is what i do (just to find out how it works, not cause exactly _this_ filter makes sense ;P): smart view: artist == "anouk" thats it and should end up in x files. it does. now i checked "sync smart view", "only selected" and "only songs in marked". now what should happen? i thought that if i hit autofill or sync it will copy these x files, maybe some less due to other limitations (on general sync/autofill query (which are also empty for this test)). it doesnt. sync wants to sync all my files, and autofill does what it allways does: randomly filling my nano with the defined mb of songs (and thats not my x files + some randoms) what am i missing? where is my mistake? or did i missunderstand the whole function? thanks in advance |

doh, i just read again and see: "Your selected playlists or Smart Views do not limit the songs that are transfered, they can only add to what is selected by the general sync query."
seems what i planned is impossible, sry for asking before reading twice ;( dunno, maybe its my english, but the sentence "This will bypass the general sync query" did lead me to my first post

Seems the docs are not very good here
![]() Actually, it should work as you expect (for Sync, not for Autofill). It should copy ONLY the songs in this playlist/smartview. Please attach your device inifile X:\ipod_control\iTunes\ml_ipod.ini (X: being the drive letter of your iPod) for further assistance... well i could trick the sync with setting the general query to "bitrate<1". this way it does actually sync only the playlists. this is ok, but it would be way more flexible if we would have an additional "general sync query" for combinig with the smartlists.
not really a big deal to include this to every smart view, just more confortable =) thx |

Checked, and yes: You found a bug. It only works as expected if the "Sync ML playlists" is also checked. That is the workaround: Check this box, and then choose "Select" and deselect all playlists.
Obviously the whole thing has only been checked with the regular playlists up to now. I'll fix that issue for the next release.
