Im considering adding the shoutcast server to my sports sites as we will be doing online live commentary on matches. Say there will be about 500 listeners at one time - what would be the minimum spec of the server i should be running? Any other help on this will be greatly appreciated. anthony@kegland.freeserve.co.uk thanks, Anthony. |

Minimum spec on the server itself or specs on bandwidth requirements?
If it's bandwidth you are asking about take this into account: I run a shoutcast server on a static ISDN line streaming 24k audio streams...At a maximum of 8 listeners I have already exceeded 75% bandwidth usage... I would recommend a T1 or better for your server(s). If you are co-lo'd, then you should be sitting on a T3...make sure you are not restricted by your ISP before you set something up of the scale you are talking about... |
