I've been trying to set up my own SHOUTcast thing here at school. I'm on the university's server, and I know the firewall here has kept me from doing various stuff (like SEND things out...) I was wondering if the firewall would keep me from braodcasting my .mp3's out. Here's the error message I keep getting:
[http:127.0.0.1] REQ:"/index.html" (ShoutcastDSP (Mozilla Compatible)) [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Connection timed out) Plus, is there a way to get around the firewall, if that is the problem? Thanks much! Rekka ~~~ |

I'm not psychic, but if you are on a LAN at work you're probably screwed (i did find a tcp/ip tunneling proxy server, real weird). If this firewall is on your personal computer at home you might be able to run a proxy server and make sure its running on 80. I couldn't go into a bit of detail because its after 5am and I'm not totally coherent. give me a few moments and i'll actually try on my other machine

Well I set up a shoutcast server up at work (which has a proxy). I just had to remove the option to publish it on yp.shoutcast.com I stopped getting errors, but it worked out fine. Of course I never tried checking the site from a computer that wasn't on the LAN.
