I have cable and I braodcast to my own server on my comp(733mhz)

Crappy music i dont think is a problem. I heard if it skips at all you will hear the skips too. I don't, it sounds great! I know my server is posted in the shoutcast.com broadcast list. I play techno, rock, rap, and dance so there somthing for everyone. Is it possible that i my have configured something wrong in the server configuration file? Is that possible? I mean everything runs smooth as pie and i dont get any error messages. My question is could I have congfigured something to keep listeners from connecting? I saw the command to keep peoplpe from broadcasting to my server but I dont think thats it. Your help will be appreciated! Also i didn't do any extra advertizing yet but still i should of got some listeners from shoutcast.

hey man i got the same problem. i've been heavily advertising my station and we barely get 1 listener. its a tough market and its probably not your server. i don't know too much about the technical stuff but my station has barely gotten any listeners either. you did set the server to public right?

Word of mouth far exceeds any type of advertising gimick you could ever generate. I recommend starting by inviting all of your associates to take part in listening to your server. If you frequent IRC alot, thats a great place to get listeners....if they like what you have they will tell others....

If you run one or more websites yourself, I would recommend pushing the technology there as well....

People want interactivity these days...so I would recommend trying to emulate something like SAM for "user selection" capabilities....it gives the user the ability to view and play specific tracks on demand...

Those are just the tricks I have learned in the past....

I had one listener, so i know that people can connect. But i still want to see what the music sounds like on their end. I am working on my site(main site). I will advertize my station on it. It will have a complete list of all the mp3's i play. All my mp3's will be dowloadable. Plus the usual info the server updates. I made the site look retro with purple and lime green as the main colors. I know exactly you what you mean about the interactivity. And i have no problem with that, but the more dynamic and interactive the site is the longer it takes to load and I'm sure you know what people think about downloading time! I have to ask you what is SAM? Is there a way to stream mp3 from ny site by clicking a link that points to an mp3 <a href = "mymp3.mp3"> Could i get that to stream?

I play a variety of stuff, such as: metal, classical, new age/techno/jazz. (not all at once .. Some days are better than others. Sometimes i have 2 listeners.. sometimes like monday? i filled my server up (20). Its a bit of a hit or miss thing (unless you play that mainstream crap) speaking of.. right now I'm playing all my metallica (i'm bored) and no one is listening to it.. Metal doesn't seem to be big on a Saturday morning at 5am (local).

I play mostly Techno(because real radio doesn't, i'm making up for it )and i am going to play rock, pop, dance and all the good stuff! I just started so i'm almost convinced that i am jumping the gun. I have still have to make the site for it and i didnt even finish completely learning all about shout cast yet. We will see what happens when i'm done. When i'm done and if i still dont have listeners.......I think i'll try and get a good 8 hours of sleep like a normal human being!

It can take a while ToyZ. I have a webpage and I've maybe had three people at once. Just keep plugging away and they will come. Also try to offer something they can't hear anywhere else like bootlegs and unreleased tracks (if you can get your hands on them.)
