Don't know when this started, possibley after a recent Realplayer upgrade.

Clicking on a Shoutcast link causes Realplayer to launch and attempt to connect. It almost always fails.

Curiously the links can be copied to Winamp's "play from location" field and will play from there. They can be saved as m3u file types and will launch Winamp, connect and play fine.

But when clicked on the Shoutcast page Realplayer is launched which has not been associated with that file type.

Can anyone help sort this out for me?

Send a message via ICQ to djderricke
Reload WinAMP and it will take back the file association that RealPlayer stole from it.

Thanks, Derricke

I tried rerunning the setup program, but no change.

Upgraded to the current version, 2.62, Problem Fixed.

Still a puzzle though...

Probably just Winamp's way of getting me to their update site

Mystery solved!

For what it's worth, Realplayer (or something) had changed the value in

HKLM_SOFTWARE_CLASSES_.pls

from audio/scpls to audio/mpegurl

Used windiff (from the windows ResKit) to compare the two registries...
