I am using WinAmp 2.62 and I find I have to go for lo-fi shoutcast. The sound skips and halts so badly I can't get thru one song. Why the stopping and restarting? I tried asking for hi-fi but with my 56k it was even worse. I don't even know if the dl's take, since it's so annoying I avoid looking for the files later. Help.

Hi.
![]() With you 56k modem, you should try sticking with the lower bit rate streams. Stay around 24kBps, 20kBps or 16kBps. Sorry to say, but those are going to sound quite rancid. With a 56k modem, you can't listen above 32kBps (32kBps if you have clean phone lines and a good connection). . .so 48 and 56kBps streams are out. And, of course, anything higher than 56kBps is out. You need a faster connection. If you can get DSL or Cable in you area, I would upgrade. That's why it skips. Hope that helps. -- radioDecay - ambient & dark ambient music http://listen.to/radiodecay/ |

Hi KAS
Thanks, that's the clearest answer I've so far gotten. Now to get napster dl's resolved and I will be well and truly happy. I don't suppose you would know about that, too? File Transfer error about 80% into the load. Maybe I should just buy a big funky 8 track and a Dodge pick-up.Gravity means heavy, and this is h e a v y, hassle factor very high.

Ha!
![]() I'd go with the phat O'ld 8 track and the Dodge! Heh. Sorry, I don't know s q u a t about Napster. I've never had the time to fire it up really. Way too much of a hassle lately if you ask me. Someone else here may know a solution to your problem. ![]() -- kas - radioDecay | ambient & dark ambient music http://listen.to/radiodecay/ |

I'm sorta bored with the whole thing. It takes so long to DL on my system that I find ADHD kicking in. I actually looked at cd's in the store today and considered BUYING music.
