I have cable modem, keep that in mind. I set my streaming format to first to 128kbits 44hz and then i set it to 320kbits 44hz. when i did that i sent like 3 times more bytes then i did with 128kbits set. I that good? I thinking yes but...after it says 0/300(0 unique) the number increase by a huge chunk then pauses for like for like a half a second. Like it's pulsating! It skips once in a blue moon. Is this bad? or good?

Most Mp3s are only ripped at 128kbps quality. It's a waste to broudcast at that setting. Plus you're increasing your bandwidth requirements drastically for the people that listen in to you.
I'm guessing it would take someone capable of a 53k/sec connection in order to listen to you without it skipping all over the place. Not a good thing. |

To be more specific; for it to be skipping all over the place for THEM, not you.

Generally, the lower bitrate you stream at, the more listeners you will get and the fewer problems they will have. Personally, I stream at 56K because I have a Live365 relay and they only allow bitrates up to 56. Plus, streaming at 56K keeps my cable provider from getting too steamed at me
.As for broadcasting above 56K, Stephen, you have to have professional codecs. The free ones in Netshow Tools only go up to 56K. |
