I've been broudcasting from my computer for the first time today, and i've run across an annoying problem.
Sometimes when switching from the end of one song to the next song, the mp3s will stop playing, leaving winamp to "spin it's wheels" so to speak. (on the eq graph, the white "line" goes back and forth and back and forth....) The only way to get it started again is to press stop and then play again, which is inpratical for one wanting to run a server that doesn't require constant supervision. This is what my log reads when that happines.. <05/29/00@20:37:04> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! <05/29/00@20:37:07> [source] no data (30s timeout). disconnecting. <05/29/00@20:37:08> [main] connecting to yp.shoutcast.com to remove myself [no source] <05/29/00@20:37:08> [yp_rem] yp.shoutcast.com removed me! From the look of it to me, it seems that the problem is with winamp (thus the no source) but i've never had this problem before now. This will also at times occur in the middle of a song, but not nearly as often. Have you heard of this problem before and/or have a possible solution that i can try? Thanks, ~Damascus |

<05/29/00@21:14:01> [http:127.0.0.1] REQ:"/admin.cgi" (Mozilla) <05/29/00@21:14:34> [source] no data (30s timeout). disconnecting. <05/29/00@21:14:34> [main] connecting to yp.shoutcast.com to remove myself [no source] <05/29/00@21:14:35> [yp_rem] yp.shoutcast.com removed me! Grrrrrrr... it keeps happening. |

Shoutcast v.1.6.0rc2/win32
WinAMP 2.62 And i don't know what a DSP is. ![]() I'm thinking that the problem is with WinAMP, since it seems to be the one that keeps timing out, and then i lose my shoutcast connection since it doesn't have any info being given to it. But again, i've never had any problem with WinAMP "spinning its wheels" before this. (but then again, up 'till yesterday i was using v.2.10 )

I take that back, it's a problem with the Shoutcast.
I get the same effect if i shut down the shoutcast server suddenly while WinAMP is still playing. WinAMP starts spinning its wheels. So i know it's a Shoutcast problem, anyone help me? |

Sounds like your connection between your winamp and the shoutcast server is too slow to keep up with the amount of data you're trying to push out of it. Try lowering your broadcast bitrate and see if that helps.

[main] connecting to yp.shoutcast.com to remove myself [no source] [yp_rem] yp.shoutcast.com removed me! IT IS VERY ANOYING!!! I am using WinAMP 2.63 with ShoutCast Server 1.6.0rc2 with DSP version 1.5.0b2... Please help me out! Regards Johannes |
