Scanning and importing Mac " ._ " files

I recently moved a bunch of my files off a Mac onto my new PC laptop and wound up with a TON of _1 and _2 etc artist entries in my DB. Seems WinAmp imported all the hidden ._1 etc Mac files.

Anyway to make this an option on WinAmp --
[_] Do not import MAC hidden files
[_] Delete Mac hidden files

Thanks

Winamp shouldn't try to load files win extensions like ._X because Winamp shouldn't have those files associated with any plugin. Can someone confirm this? Check in Preferences -> File Types to see if they are listed.

If you want to remove all those files do a search in the Media Library of the following then simply delete them.

?filename has "._"

Have a look at the files it returns to make sure that you don't remove somthing you would actually want in there.

I guess I wasn't clear. These are hidden files that START with "._1_xxxx" and end with ".mp3", thus why WinAmp tries to import them, and won't play them.

Wouldn't it be easier for you to just go to Windows Search,
search your Music folder for all files named ._*.mp3 and delete them,
then go to Winamp > ML > Library button and click 'Remove missing files'?

Yes, of course, which is what I did once I realized what was going on. My question was... should WinAmp be written to know to not import them in the first place? It's a valid question, since these files are not playable (and I think are zero byte files to boot). THAT would be easier.

Yeah, probably. However, Winamp is designed in such a way that the Input Plugins determine what file formats are supported (for playback and for importing into the mldb, etc), and all they do is look at the file extension, see that it's a supported extension, and deal with it accordingly.

I agree that an option to not import 0 byte files would be nice...

afaik, they arent zero byte. they are the meta-data associated with the files. Remember, mac folk like to preach the virtues of how the mac doesnt need a file extension to know how to open a file. Of course, all it really does is make two files for every one file. clever.
