Hello, we stream music over the net 24 hours a day. We use WinAmp and the Shoutcast DSP to stream, and SAM to control the music. We also use Live365 ONLY for their bandwidth. After using two NullSoft programs, playing their promos in our stream, and advertising their website on ours, our station still can not be found on yp.shoutcast.com.
The question is, will there be an up-date to the sc_dsp.dll that will cure this? How about any plugins for WinAmp? My dedicated IP:PORT is 216.32.166.81:8096 and my website can be found at www.ibc-radio.com

Check the other forums for info on why Live365 streams aren't listed on shoutcast (hint: it's because live365 isn't sending us any to list)

Why point the finger at Live365? I just use them for their bandwidth. I don't use any of their software. The software I use to stream is from NullSoft. I use WinAmp and the Shoutcast DSP plugin. I also use SAM to help control the music selections.
There has to be an up-date for the DSP or a plugin I can use with Winamp, instead of waiting for Live365 to do anything.

How come I can't get any info on this? I use two Nullsoft programs, and non of them can send Shoutcast the info needed to have our station listed on their server. Is there an up-date coming. Don't leave us in the dark here!

The reason your not listed is because your not using the SHOUTcast server. Live365 is not a shoutcast server, therefore it doesn't list. Live365 has made the decision to not list at shoutcast.

I do use NullSoft's WinAMP & NullSoft's SC_DSP.DLL plugin. I Advertise for NullSoft, both in Banners & promos. Is this not enough for NullSoft to find a way for a station like us to be listed on the Shoutcast website?? Like maybe an up-date to either WinAmp, or their DSP plugin? Why keep pointing the finger at Live365? I just use them for bandwidth. I have not even ask them for any software. I wouldn't trust Live365 software if they offered any in the first place. I trust NullSoft, and would love for them to cure this problem. Just need a up-date to their plugin, or an option in their server to point the streamed music to a IP:Port.

Can anyone from Shoutcast give me a Yes/No on this subject. I wrote two emails asking the same thing. Still waiting on an answer.
I am willing to send you the information needed to post our station on your website. I just need Shoutcast to come out with the plugin to do it.

GT McCulloch,

anyone interrupt me here if im giving bad information.

the idea behind the shoutcast listing is that the server you are connecting to forwards the information on to the shoutcast listing. yp.shoutcast.com actually references the ip of the sending server, thus making the ip availble on yp.shoutcast.com. by making a "plugin" on the broadcasting component (on your end) you would be confusing the server into thinking your broadcasting machine's ip is the actual server ip. in other words, tough luck. live365 is to blame here. they are the only ones that can update your listing information and have it reference your live365 stream ip.

AND - as im a fellow radio whore for the live365 marketing wheel (i say this since they had such a big fit about being a pawn in aol's so called mass take over the streaming business game -haw-). i find it amusing that live365 doesnt mind pimping our radio broadcasting hinnies out while receiving all the benefits and royalties for effort.

on the other hand, like i care. my "stream" isnt going to make me a superstar when only 60 people a day listen to it. live365 looses it's share everyday they cut themselves off from the rest of the streaming world.

Yea I think your missing the point GT, the SHOUTcast Program is what sends YP the data needed to get listed, it uses simple HTTP header calls to find out where the call is coming from. A plug-in would not work unless they specifically designed the YP Directory to accept one (which I doubt they will) Look at your Live365 user agreement from more information as to why your not listed at shoutcast.

IBC-Radio has been streaming for quite awhile. I'm sure he's fully aware of why Live365.com pulled the plug and that it was them that did it. . .not NullSoft.

If anything, he's trying to get people talking and doing things, but he isn't dumb. He knows that Live365.com nixed sending data to the SHOUTcast directory. Thus the reason he was using Oddsock's YP Lister to get back in the SHOUTcast dir. until NullSoft blocked the YP Lister.

Who can blame him? If only a few Live365.com streams are streaming in the SHOUTcast dir., their listener counts sky rocket! When I had the bandwidth and streamed a small server to the SHOUTcast dir., my stream was packed.

*sigh* Oh the days of plenty of bandwidth. . .now. . .back to a 56k modem. Rat farts.

But. . .when Live365.com and NullSoft come to terms and ALL of Live365.com's streams flood into the SHOUTcast dir.,. . .well, once again there will be too many streams and too few listeners.

Thanks for everyones input. Was just hoping there was something NullSoft can do for a few of us streamers who do use Live365 for their bandwidth. Those of use that still use WinAMP and the Shoutcast plugin. Those of us that support NullSoft with banner ads and promos. Not all Live365 users do this. Although we here at IBC do!

Is it, however, possible for me to live broadcast to a shoutcast server and then relay from that to live 365? Will Shoutcast then list my station?

If you're running a shoutcast server on your own computer like I am, try limiting your number of users to 1 and then use your shoutcast administrator privileges to restrict connections from live365 only. You'll still get listed on yp.shoutcast. Yes, unfortunately it will show that the number of users is maxed out at 1. To get around that you could try changing the URL listed in your SHOUTcast source settings to that of the live365 broadcast link. Anyone astute enough to click on the title of your broadcast in the shoutcast directory would establish a direct connection with live365.

Sorry, that above post should've said "RESERVE connections from live365 only."

Now we are opening up some minds. Seems there is away to get listed. Sort of a round about way, but it seems its possible. Any other ideas?
