Idea for new plugin. Like AdBlock for Firefox but for Winamp!

I had this idea a few ago for a great plugin idea for winamp while listening to one of my favorite shoutcast stations. They play this Australian commercial about reclaiming your power or somethin like literally every 5 min.

And I started thinkin how cool would it be to be able to adblock commercials like you can adblock ads in Firefox? So I thought of a way to make a plugin work to "replace" commercials in online streams. I cant make it however cause I know nothing about making a plugin for winamp but I thought Id post it here and maybe someone that knows how can do it.

It works like this:

You make a playlist of things to be played randomly anything you want to hear in place of a commercial and these could be anything that goes in a normal winamp playlist. But for the purpose this playlist serves itd probably be best to use your own locally stored mp3s.

You then assign this playlist to be used in the plugin. Then you listen to your favorite streaming shoutcast channels or whatever and when you hear an you want to replace you hit a configurable hotkey defined in the plugins settings.

When this hotkey is pressed it will read the title of what your winamp is currently playing and add it to an internal list. And whenever that title is being played again it will store the address your listening to in a temp location and queue up a random file from the playlist specified. When that file ends it goes back to the temp stored channel and your back to listenin to your streaming channel automatically hopefully (depending on lengths) missing the commercial.

With a few more advanced settings in the plugin you could even assign a length to each commercials definition in the plugins internal list. Then assuming you got the length close to right it could pick somethin in the assigned playlist thats the closest possible to the length of that commercial and play it. So youd lessen the chance of going back to the streaming channel on the end of the commercial or into a song thats already started.

If it proved to be a successful plugin you could even have shared lists you can subscribe to when the plugin is installed that includes lots of known commercials lots of streaming channels play with their precise lengths. Then all the end user would have to do is make a playlist and assign it to the plugin.

Ideas? Questions? Comments?
