help with remote server

I have my own server running localy but I have a friend who wants to connect to it. I was under the impression he would have the same set up on his mixer plug in except instead of localhost he would have my ip. well he tries to connect and it says connecting for a while then it just says not connected. he has the password and all of my settings but can't connect! he set one up that works also and I tried connecting to his and it would not work.

to sum everything up I want 2 people to be able to dj one server (not at the same time). it isn't working

don't tell me to search I DID!!

you have to open those!? 8000 and 8001?

I thought you just had to open any one port... so which do you use as "port" if you use those two. I was using a random port

You cannot make ones up at random. Use 8000 and 8001 unless otherwise defined in the server config.
