Help me. I'm just gettin started and I have no idea on what to do. I downloaded everyting on the shoutcast download page and I am having trouble on making it work. I have a 56k modem and netscape. I don't really know how to configure any of the stuff i downloaded so a step-by-step helping guide from a pro will be much appreciated. Thanx

The first problem is that you're using a 56k connection. Don't even bother trying to setup a server. It's going to be too slow, too choppy, and the sound quality will be terrible.

yep, you sure can. For a free one, go to www.live365.com and sign up for either EasyCast or a Broadcast Relay.
For a good start on how to set things up, i'd go over to www.shoutclub.com/help/shoutcast hope that helps. ------------------ kPOT Amped Out: it's like god is rubbing your tummy. |

I already have a Live365 radio thing there. Can I make it so I can make shoutcast use that Live365 broadcast? IF so, how?

If you decide to use Live365, you can use a couple of different methods:
EasyCast, which lets you upload all your MP3's (or even one huge MP3 you've made of a "canned" radio show). The server will play the MP3's nonstop -- you don't even have to be connected to the net since EVERYTHING is done from their servers. Relay, which lets you do a live broadcast from your computer and upload it (live) to their server, which will then broadcast in realtime. This is good if you're going to do DJ talking, taking requests, or whatever. There's also LiveCast, which I don't know much about. I THINK it just acts like a normal ShoutCast server (ie. all listeners connect to your IP) but uses their plugin and lists the station in their directory. There are easier ways to get listed on multiple multiple directories (check out yplister at http://www.oddsock.org . Since you're using a dialup connection, I'd suggest using EasyCast if you just want to put your music up, or do Relay if you want to do everything live. You can get a LOT more details at http://www.live365.com/ . ------------------ WhiteHowler's Game Music - Diablo 2, Starcraft, Final Fantasy, etc. Open Location in WinAmp to 24.214.58.160:8000 |
