DSP effects saved to output file or tags.

Since Winamp has one of the best tempo shifters in DSP_SPS it would be nice to permanently shift the speed of an audio track. This could be done by having an output file generated at the same time that Winamp is playing. Of course one can do this by having another program listen while Winamp is playing, but that is cumbersome.

Of course an alternative would be to have a tag that could specify specific DSP_SPS and equalizer settings.

The output idea could also allow the use of other plug-ins. This would be nice because the DSP_SPS pitch shifting is not nearly as good at the tempo shifting. Actualy if one uses the Fourier technique both should be done together to minimize processing time.

OK, I just found that it is possible to write the ouput to the hard drive using the CD burning capabilities. But the idea that there could be a tag to setup special effects would be a good thing, and might make Winamp even more competitive.
