Music Ticker

Please forgive me if this is covered some where.

I'm after a way to set up a html page with the title and artist from the current song displayed. I know there are lots of scripts etc at various places. But they all have a problems here and there.

I use Jazler (which has an ftp updater biult in) but we have had no end of issues with it. Going to their support and asking for help resulted in only part of the problem being fixed. That gets the file to the web server then we need to have something to display it on a webpage. Yes in comes php etc. See part of the problem here is my isp has had issues with malicious hackers. He banns repeated ftp logins under a certain time. Let's face it you don't need to login every 3/4 mins 24/7.

Oddsock has the right idea! Why can't winamp put an external meta data link etc in their dsp? Yeah run oddsock I hear you say and point the link to the right file on Jazler. Yep works fine! But oddsock doesn't like being used as part of the dsp in winamp and it gets messy trying to use compression plugins etc. The resources on the soundcard get assigned to funny places and it all locks up.

Seriously folks i would be the happiest person around if Winamp just put the external meta data link in their dsp like the oddsock one does. I would just pinch the "now playing" text file in jazler and pump the titles out in the normal manner. From there I could use php scripts for web pages easy.

Incase I missed it. In order to get the sound into Winamp I use the linein plugin. Thus the meta data would always read "linein" or whatever is left in the winamp playlist window.

Oddsocks do somthing has me baffled at the moment. But i'm not sure it can pull from an external file.

Any ideas people or am i missing something here?
