If you can find the source code I would expect that you can update the plug-in, if you also know what changes have been made but, have you tried loading the skin with the v5.35 plug-in?

the bento needs features from the 5.5 version of gen_ff and gen_ff needs features of the winamp.exe from 5.5 for it to work. so even though you can copy the newer gen_ff into an older install, it'll just go boom (primarily since there's no localisation api present which is heavily relied on in 5.5 dlls). basically, if you want bento you need to be using a 5.5+ version of winamp

If you have issues with Winamp or still want to get it, ensure
you get v5.666 build 3516 and the required plug-in updates
