Xbox 3?

When do you think it comes out? The Xbox 360 came out only 4 YEARS after the Xbox did (2001, 2005). And it's less than two years until November 2009 (four years since 360 came out). Do you think they'll release the Xbox 3 then?
I don't because they're still growing a large fan base, and are finally starting to get a profit. And they might make the Ultimate 360 (hopelfully). So I thin the Xbox 3 will come out in November 2010 or 2011.

I don't think it would be for a while. I just got my 360 last month. I don't think they could outdo the 360 like they did the original just yet. I think the earliest could possibly be 2010. I don't think they'll rush it like they did the 360.

The 360 WAS expensive. Now even guys like me can afford a 360. I haven't really seen much in games for the PS3 that I couldn't get for 360.

Blu-ray isn't "all that and a bag of chips". I'm not going to be paying for blu-ray movies and a PS3 when the prices are at the moment. Maybe when the price for blu-ray and it's players I'll grab some stuff but $30+ for a movie is ridiculous. And power doesn't equal great games.

What does the PS3 do that the 360 doesn't besides blu-ray?

im generally against consoles, but i still prefere the PS3 over the M$ xbox360. at least the ps3 network does not cost extra and the ps3 offers backwards compatibility.
and the lite on is not a player that you can directly connect to ur tv without extra hardware.

You can still build a PC with the Blu-ray drive for less than the cost of a PS3.

Most xbox360 exclusives are ported to the PC the same can not be said for ps3 exclusives. Being both a console and PC gamer I purchased a ps3 for its exclusives (GT5,MGS4,GoW,R&C), its multimedia abilities (Blu-ray, Dvd upscaling, multimedia streaming), and its openness (linux for blu-ray ripping, web-tv, & old school emu's). I wait a year and I can play most lauded 360 games on the PC with added content, reduced cost (Purchase & Free online), and most importantly a mouse and keyboard. Unless a miracle occurs and sony somehow manges to over take the 360 I dont see the next gen coming anytime soon. They want to start making a profit on the current gen before they start yet another one. Furthermore the technology is reaching a point of diminishing returns so this generation may last more then the usual 5 years.

Maybe its a problem for you, but for the rest of us who ENJOY playing just games on a console from the good ol' days Xbox 360 is the way to go. PS3 (in my honest opinion) was just something Sony released to keep up with Microsoft.

With the success of the PS1 & PS2, Sony would have been stupid not to eventually release the PS3. But since Microsoft put out the 360 a lot earlier than anyone expected, Sony was forced to release a half-finished console. Just barely now are many PS3 features coming out that should have been there from day one.

With that being said, if SOCOM turns out to be REALLY good, I just might have to pick up a PS3. Until then, my 360, PC, and even PSP provide me with plenty of entertainment.

This is a sig of some nature.

Sony had an insurmountable lead with the ps2 and Microsoft was bleeding money so they decided to trough in the towel on the original xbox after just four years and jump the gun on the next gen. MS also rushed their hardware which is evinced by the high defect rate and old media drive. Where as the software aspect of the ps3 was initially rough around the edges the hardware has been quite solid. Further thanks to some frequent firmware updates the software end is receiving some much needed polish, largely negating that shortcoming. I will also note how quickly ms deserted original xbox owners where as the last gen sony hardware still receives full support to this day. Ultimately they are both pieces of hardware sold by corporations looking to increase their stock value. If you decided you want a console asses what your looking for a pick up the one that best fits your desires. I do not pledge loyalty to any corporation, I purchase the hardware that I feel will best serve my ends.

Blu-Ray Technology is the last of it's kind, an aging dinosaur. Microsft / XBox already has the lead with downloadable content. Netflix streaming, HD TV downloads. Sure, the bandwidth may not be there yet, but the age of the video disc is one that may not be around within the next decade.

The 360 may have it's problems and lost it's gamble with HD-DVD, but it is still the stronger console. Hard core gamers always want the best grpahics and bells and wistles, but the major markets aren't the hard core gamer. More and more software houses are moving to developing casual gamer games. Less reward per title, but way less risk too.

The avegrage gmaer is becomming older. Adults who can't play a game for eight hours a day. People who want a game they can pick up play for a while and put down. And really, the 360 and enen to a point the Wii corners this market. Sure, the PS3 may be the most "hard core" of the three, but while they are a vocal groupe of gamers they are quickly becomming the minority.

XBox 3 and NES 6 will have a huge advantage over Sony.

Its presumptuous to assume that blu-ray is the last of its kind as companies are still investing R&D on physical media technology. Further while broadband has come a long way its market saturation is under %50. Not to mention that the bandwidth of that < 50% is largely insufficient for streaming high def content. In that a notable portion of users having bandwidth beneath 1 Mbps, thus making streaming rather impracticable (esp high def content). Finally a large number of customers (my self included) prefer having a physically copy of a movie or album, and thus for this and all the aforementioned reasons I do not believe that blu-ray is the last of its kind.

Microsoft would have liked to have included an HD-DVD drive in their system but it would have delayed the consoles development. Had MS waited and put an HD-DVD drive in the system then I feel that the outcome of that format war would have turned out quite differently. Also if MS had put a HD-DVD drive in their system I wounder if their representatives would be saying that physical media is past its prime. Game developers have also been starting to gripe about the xbox's lack of storage space ( Id , Rockstar , Bizzar Creations ). Ultimately we'll will see the degree of veracity of ms media stance with their next console. If it has what I'm looking for I just may buy it. Like I stated before I pledge no loyalty to any corporation, I buy what ever hardware I feel best address's my desires. This generation that happened to be sony's offering.
