Media Library Placement
If I map a drive letter to my music files folder, say m:, and then when I set up my library, I utilize the mapping to add files, I' will be placing all my music in the library from M:, which in fact is "C:\Documents and Settings\%User%\My Documents\My Files\My Music.
If later I want to move my music files to another drive for space reasons, if I adjust the M: mapping to the new drive, my library indexes etc. ought to remain OK, shouldn't they, since the path to the Beatles music for instance remains the same? 'Cause whether it is in "C:\Documents and Settings\%User%\My Documents\My Files\My Music\Beatles", or D:\Music\Beatles, when I select the file for the library, it will be referenced as M:\Beatles, so that indices ought to remain OK, shouldn't they? Yes, it sounds as though that should be fine if you keep the sub-folder structure the same in the mapped drive folder. Before you add all you files, add just one file to the library from the mapped drive and then check the path that Winamp thinks it has.
