Wrong date format
One big problem with these boards (indeed, with far too many web sites I've seen) is that they use the American date format (mm/dd/yy). Come on people -- this is the World Wide Web, not the USA web, hence International format (yyyy-mm-dd; a.k.a. ISO Format, a.k.a. The Format Formerly Known As Japanese) is the only one which makes sense to use here, as shown by this thread.
American format is probably the worst one to use, as it's exclusive to the Americas, hence used by only about 10% of the world population (if indeed even that much). |

Well, these forums utilize the vBulletin board format/software, albeit a much older version than what is offered today. There are many mods (modifications) available that will in fact allow the user to select their own US / European date and time format.
Example: User Defined Date & Time Format Display And the above is just one of many. I see that you are from the UK. So is DJ Egg, DrO, and many other mods and members here. So - yes, a simple mod would be the answer. BUT... It's extremely doubtful that the board admin will apply any changes in that regard. I do not feel that something like that is on AOL's "list of priorities". Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads. I don't like the european format, it sucks.

Amen to this thread.
Could these forums be tweaked to use ISO 8601 dates, i.e. YYYY-MM-DD? |

If there was a clear consensus on a preferred date format, we could just change the display format for the forums as a whole, but I'm pretty sure we don't have that.
The user preference mods for vb do seem to all require 3x versions (imagine that). I'll keep this in mind though for when peeps start foaming at the mouth to tinker with forums. |

Im from the uk,and i have no problem with the date
layout. I pay for alot of services in the U.S so deal with billing dates in the format daily, and it has never been an issue. I'm not here right now - leave a msg after the beep... |
