Cheap Channels HQ isn't that far from you. And sorry anything around these parts gets first refusall from our students. Prolly too cold for you too.

Check the big owner's web pages for openings, most all of them keep a listing (I know CC does).

Your mileage may vary!

well i learned a lot about the business that i did not know. Plus I leanred how to produce and make bumpers and beds and station ID's and all sorts of stuff. Not to mention Audio Vault and pro tools....YAY

The knowledge is really gonna help me in my endeavors with internet radio for sure.

I could have gotten a job starting in promotions for 7 bucks an hour. Yeah right.

oh and get this . they let me go an interview Denzel Washington for his premiere of the movie The Great Debaters.

Don laugh it's my first interview EVER. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3f_MbyZRobo

Not to mention my camera man screwed up the sound...He was adjusting the levels when the crowd was screaming so it muffled my voice. He was an intern too. They let 2 interns go and interview Denzel Washington..Go figure.

Umm..... Here is tip number one about working in radio...

If you want to get rich working in radio.... Find another job! You will never get rich working in local radio, and you will probably never move up into syndicated radio, and even then many people do it because they enjoy it, not to get rich. You should probably take the job until something else opens up (like an air shift, even if it is only voicetracked overnights).

And too bad you had to learn all that stuff at an internship, we teach our students to do all that type of production work in classn (those that pay attention), but we don't use ProTools (too expensive and normally requires certain hardware). The Audio Vault is OK but reaching the end of its lifetime, regular network storage is getting so easy to deal with that these specialized machines will be gone in a few years. Had I realized what you were doing I would have suggested learning the scheduling software, that's where some money can be made by a person that really knows how to deal with all the rules. They probably used RCS Selector for the music/promos/etc. scheduling as it is still one of the most widely used (and also one of the most complex).

If you didn't flat out laugh at them for the $7.00 you might want to go back and take it as a learning experience. Ask them about an airshift and look into working with the Programming Manager or Music Director to learn the scheduling software. A good grip on RCS Selector will get you a decent job, but remember what I said at the start, you WILL NOT get rich in radio (unless you own the stations).

Your mileage may vary!

It was talk radio...we only used music for bumbers and beds and production work...The content of the station was all talk .

The Jagger Show , Pugs and Kelly , Russ Martin show , Tom Lykus and Big Dick Hunters Wild ass cirucs.

CBS radio used to be FREE FM ....NOW its live 105.3

Anyways yeah i really want to learn the scheduling software...What i really would like to do in Radio is be a PD or APD or maybe do their Imaging.....All that shit I learned about making beds..Well they dont teach that in the college i went too. my internship was based on a broadcast journalism class.

thanks for the input

PS...i cant do 7 bucks an hour...im driving a Volvo C30 . LOL

I got a job now making 18 bucks an hour doing layout for a sign shop.

AudioVault doesn't really have much in the way of real scheduling stuff, I thought it was a very basic utility to help sell the storage units. Looks like they've grown up a little bit since they started selling storage servers.

What most big stations use is RCS selector, it has an 800 page manual that explains the rules used to make automatic scheduling possible. http://www.rcsworks.com/en/

A lot of smaller stations use Natural Music or other products from http://www.nat-soft.com/, especially a lot of stations that run the BSI Simian automation software.

There are a couple of others, but RCS Selector (and it's companion applications) is the BIG one. We have Natural Music here, and I played with it for a few minutes, seems easy enough to learn but we won't use it here, we prefer to do things the really hard way.

Your mileage may vary!

Thanks ..It appears that RCS has a training program...I sent them a request for information...I bet its expensive. They even have an online training option....

Would be nice to put RCS on my Resume.

I bet you could get into a Natural Software training session for free, and since it is somewhat close probably possible. They all do the same things, just some get really complex about what they can do and need 800 pages to spell out all the rules.

Your mileage may vary!
