Shoutcast set up correctly but no-one can tune in =(
Ok I really need some help here cause I'm going to go mad soon.
I have set up Shoutcast to run via Winamp and after some early hicups configuring it have finally got it running....or so I thought. I can successfully broadcast, see my station in the shoutcast Yellow pages via Winamp and tune in via any of the 2 pc's and Mac in my home. I can even link to the server from any pc in my home and broadcast with the same results. So it APPEARS to be working. However, the trouble is no-one outside of my home can tune in. I have read the forums about this and it does seem to be an IP problem. I have noticed if the ping does not work, if I forget to reconfigure port forwarding, it says something like "cannot see your computer 91.126.168.0:8000" which is not the PC's IP address, it is more like 192.168.3.3. This IP seems to be a generic one for my broadband provider rather than specific to myself or that pc, as this number will come up for any pc on my network, although they all have similar ones to 192.168.3.3 but one number up..... you know what I mean lol It has been suggested to change the IP for my server PC via the router, which I have done a few times as the default IP may be the same as anyone who has that type of router. But this still results in a stream that appears to work but no-one can tune into outwith my home. Has anyone got any ideas how to sort this out? I'm desperate man!!!!! |

Ok here goes..... =)

This has now been changed to 192.168.0.253, when I did forget to change the port forwarding the message I got was... [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 90.202.115.62:8010) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out).) (IP: 90.202.115.62:8010)is not my IP seemingly as I am connecting from behind a router. Using this URL for the stream does not work but 192.168.0.253:8010 gives the results shown above (with this IP) |

A little confusion somewhere.
if the server currently says [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! then everything was fine, if you can get the server back to that then you are fine. find your ip address here, post the results to see if you need the yport. http://www.streamsolutions.co.uk/myipaddress/ |

Well that's just it. Everything does seem fine but no-one can tune into the station. I followed your link and the result is as I expected....
Your IP address is 90.202.115.62 Connected Through A Proxy No Is it possible I'm just getting confused with my IP's? my server pc is the 192.168.0.253 but my home IP is 90.202.115.62. When I use 192.168.0.253:8010 I can tune into the stream but no-one outwith the home can. This would be as it is a private IP on my network I guess. However if I try to use 90.202.115.62:8010 I get nothing, making me assume it is not working. Is it possible that only PC's outwith my home would be able to use this URL? Here are the results of the server as is at the mo showing all is well... <05/31/08@17:25:05> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.8 (Feb 28 2007) starting up... <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] initializing (usermax:100 portbase:8010)... <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] opening source socket <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] source thread starting <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] opening client socket <05/31/08@17:25:05> [source] listening for connection on port 8011 <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <05/31/08@17:25:05> [main] client main thread starting <05/31/08@17:25:13> [source] connected from 127.0.0.1 <05/31/08@17:25:14> [source] icy-name:Toe'd Up KLFM ; icy-genre:Alternative/ Grunge/ Metal/ Rock <05/31/08@17:25:14> [source] icy-pub:1 ; icy-br:64 ; icy-url:http://www.toedup.co.uk <05/31/08@17:25:14> [source] icy-irc:#shoutcast ; icy-icq:0 ; icy-aim:N/A <05/31/08@17:25:15> [dest: 205.188.234.97] starting stream (UID: 0)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0) <05/31/08@17:25:25> [dest: 205.188.234.97] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 0)[L: 0]{Bytes: 259846}(P: 0) <05/31/08@17:25:29> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully <05/31/08@17:28:31> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched! |

works fine here,
http://90.202.115.62:8010/ Current Stream Information Server Status: Server is currently up and public. Stream Status: Stream is up at 64 kbps with 1 of 100 listeners (1 unique) Listener Peak: 1 Average Listen Time: 0m 01s Stream Title: Toe'd Up KLFM Content Type: audio/mpeg Stream Genre: Alternative/ Grunge/ Metal/ Rock Stream URL: http://www.toedup.co.uk Stream AIM: N/A Stream IRC: #shoutcast Current Song: 64k 44khz stereo, you cannot see your external ip address as your router doesnt allow it. 100 users is too much for a home connection. Its always worth remembering that the rule of thumb is upstream / bitrate = max users you can get your upstream here http://www.speedtest.net |
