Plugin changed notifier, possible?

I'm currently using the multiple output plugin with the file writer output plugin to record samples from tracks on the fly using a hotkey to toggle the file writer output plugin.
Now the problem I have is there's no notification when I press the hotkey and the outplugin has been changed to and from the file writer output plugin.

What I want to know is if it is possible to have some of way to notify the user when the file output plugin is active and recording, possible with an icon in the taskbar or simple a sound when the plugin has been enabled and another for when it is not.
