clustering .mp3 and .wma
The Audiorealm yp does not have my genre, so my preference is to keep all my webradio directories like Windows Media and iTunes feeding on my flagship SHOUTcast 96kbps .mp3 stream, which is #1 in my genre usually 18 hours a day.
Originally, Windows Media told me to write an .asx file for them, including my .mp3 stream. But now, they are saying they will only continue promoting my station (which is a Featured Station and Editor's Pick) on their Radio page if the underlying stream is .wma. (Typical MS control-freakism!) So, if I capitulate and encode a new 96kbps .wma stream, can I ask my streamhost to cluster it with my existing 96kbps .mp3 stream? If this is possible, then my clustered 96kbps stream can remain in the #1 spot in my genre in the SHOUTcast yp. |

Ummm.... Will Shoutcast serve WMA encoded streams?
Your mileage may vary! |

You can only create a "cluster" in the SHOUTcast directory of the same stream, including bitrate and all that jazz. That and SHOUTcast doesn't support WMA

A cluster also implies a single source program [one station] -- that means content type (audio/mpeg, audio/aacp) and other stream properties (like bitrate, samplrate, etc...).
