intro file weirdness

Hi all my last post had to do with using an intro file which is set in the config file and works just fine, the problem is that after the intro file plays it takes between 5 and 30 seconds for the streaming audio to start, which is too long for people to wait. Any ideas, the mp3 file is set to the right bit rate, do I have to use the naming convention in the config file i.e. intro_24.mp3?? Currently the file name is intro.mp3, it is running on Solaris 8.
