Playlist

Hi all,

I have a problem, when I drag my entire music folder to winamp playlist it doesnt sort it by artist it sorts it according to the file name (i.e. everything starting with 01 first then 02 etc etc). I would like to have it sorted from a-z by artist.
I name my files as follows:
<Track number> - <artist> - <track name>.mp3

Is there a way to sort the playlist by the artist tag?

Sorry is this is really easy im a bit new to winamp.

To sort the songs in the playlist:
At the bottom of the Playlist Editor;
Misc button -> Sort -> Sort list by title
This will make the songs sorted alphabeticaly a-z. I hope that helps you

.. And just to let you know; you dont need to drag the songs into the playlist. There are other ways (like the "Add" button, or enqueue...).

Thanks for the reply however the way you said to do it does not sort it alphabeticaly by artist, as the files are named <track number> - <artist> - <title> it sorts it with all the number 01's first then the 02's etc etc.

I want to know if you can sort the playlist by the artist ID3 tag, this will then list everything regardless of the file name by artist?

Ok.. Sorry, but I think you have to wait. I just found this in the wishlist-thread:
"Winamp3 style 'sort' options (sort by: artist / album / track#)"
A possible workaround is by using this plugin - http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/143299

So you have to wait, or you can try that plugin if you want.
Note: Third-party plugins are not supported by the DEVs..

Though I agree that these things should have been in WA by default:
Sort list by artist (maybe the same as title, which we already have ?)
Sort list by album
Sort list by track#
etc etc..

EDIT: Sorry if you cant see the link, you need to be "Senior Member" for that. Or you can try to "Quote" me - then you can see the link.
