Special Characters in ShoutCast Metadata
I don't get any special characters in ShoutCast metadata, not even wrong ones. The admin panel of Icecast itself sees correct characters.
Here's a screenshot comparing Winamp2 and Winamp5 http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4...stcharsbp9.png ht_tp://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4641/winampmp3castcharsbp9.png |

The SHOUTCast DNAS does not support International (unicode) characters. It never has. (And Icecast is not SHOUTcast, so it doesn't matter what it supports or not)

Sorry, but when reading these forums, I wonder about your unbelieveable ignorance. It seems that »SHOUTcast doesn’t support international characters« is the sentence you write most often.
Nobody is talking about SHOUTcast, we’re usually talking about what COMES OUT OF WINAMP (SHOUTcast DSP). THAT’s what’s buggy. Would be great if someone started caring about users here. And just in case you didn’t know it: SHOUTcast wonderfully supports international characters in stream metadata and it’s been doing that since YEARS. Provided that it’s 8-bit character data (ISO 8859-1 for most of us), and NOT Unicode. Last edited by Moonbase; 17th November 2008 at 16:44. |
