Vista + 5.1=no worky (yes I've already searched)
I've been trying to get winamp to play my music through all speakers like it did previously in XP. I'm not computer retarded, all settings are set to how I've read on previous forum posts.
I downloaded the KB 5.1 channel output plugin, when I attempt to use it, I get the error "An invalid paramter was pass to a system function. Error code:11" I then downloaded the vlsound51 output plugin, and when I attempt to play, I get "The format is unsupported". I'm getting 2.1 sound currently, I'm using onboard sound (alc883). I'm aware the mp3 files aren't 5.1, I just want it to sound like it did in XP. Can anyone offer help. EDIT: 5.1 sound does work on videos in VLC. |

Winamp uses DirectSound
But ms was so "clue" and removed DirectSound on Vista But that is necessary for 5.1 Vista uses OpenAL, so you have to search a plugin for OpenAL Output (if exist one) |
