I like Youtube and always want to enjoy Youtube clips @ my iPhone. I have been using one free Youtube download tool called Xilisoft Youtube Video Downloader. Anyway know other video download tool?

Free FLV Converter works, I suppose

I really feel this is a prelude to SPAM, but the FlashGot extension for Firefox and Orbit (download manager) works great.

If you use Firefox browser, they provide an add-on for downloading youtube videos with a click of a mouse and it will be transformed to .avi. Check the URL- https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006 - this is the tool I'm using now.

Prelude?

OK so it's free, but why the hell is it 6.71MB?

Anyways, I use Live HTTP Headers since it works pretty much everywhere.

I'm using Easy Video Downloader to download YT videos.

Advantage: you can directly download the "&fmt=18" .avi videos (by checking the box) which have higher quality than the standard .flv videos you get via that firefox plugin.

While the audio track of a YT .flv video is most likely a ~64kbps 22kHz mono mp3 file, the AT of the .avi video is a ~128kbps 44kHz stereo aac file. I'm using mp4UI to demux the ".avi"s (extracting aac audio without lossy conversion).

Realplayer seems to provide consistent functionality for that, but that's not exactly a recommendation.

Old thread, I know, but the safest option is to just open your cache directory and search for *.flv:

IE:
Microsoft Internet Explorer:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\
opera:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\cache4\
FF:
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxx.default\Cache\

I completely agree, which is why I didn't mind posting ant video downloader. It's simple and lightweight, free without strings attached, and it hides conveniently in an unused part of firefox's status bar as a plugin. VLC media player will play those flv videos too.

You can check Leawo Free YouTube Downloader. It is an all-in-one browser, video download manager and FLV player. So it is rather powerful.
