trouble getting songs to mp3 player

I am using winamp to download my music into my mp3 player...it says it is transferred the songs over and when I click on the portable device icon, it shows the songs. But, when I unplug the mp3 player and turn it on to check it, there is no songs....i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong...please help!

Make sure you are hitting the eject button in the bottom right before just unplugging it

thanks for your suggestion...i tried that and i do have 5 songs on their now, but it still shows that it has about 35 on their when I click on the portable device. Any more suggestions?
