Im connected(need to stream to website)

I got everything perfect.I got my ports forwarded and im showing up on the stations on the shoutcast server. I want to stream it or embed the radio station to my website. How can I do this? Well I have tried it before by using the windows media code and using my ip and port. But for my ip i always put localhost then put my port number. Could this be what im doing wrong. I have tried actually using the ip address from whatismyip.com but it didn't even connect from winamp with that one. What am I doing wrong?

You need to use the ip you get from Whatismyip.com and the port number. "localhost" is just a default hostname for your own machine.

Make sure your ports are forwarded in your router, if you don't have your machine set up for a static ip it may change every time you boot up if you have other computers in your household on the same network. In this case you might have forwarded ports for 192.168.0.101 yesterday but now today your local ip is 192.168.0.102. Now it won't work again and you need to go back to your router and forward the ports for the new ip your machine has.

If this is the case I would suggest using a static IP so you don't have to keep going back and changing the IP for port forwarding on your router.

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Windows Media, version 9 or later, can connect to Shoutcast streams, so the best way to to make an embedded Windows Media Player windows on the web page, and have it point to your shoutcast server.

If using an embedded player use the external ip address and get someone else to check it as you will not be able to check it from inside your network.

Most routers dont allow local loopback and will stop you seeing your external ip address

you may want to make a another page with the embedded code on it using the localhost address so you can listen to it.
