Forum Issues

I just posted a new topic, and when I went to look at it, I noticed three problems:

The name of the MP3 Tag Editor is missing (it says "URL submitted by user")
My Signature is missing
The time is wrong
I have the correct time zone set in the User Control Panel, but the forum time is behind by one hour.

Shane.

First two questions
Noting against you, however that is anti-spam measure. It is designed to prevent people from signing on to the forums just to spam. After certain number of posts you URLs and SIG will appear. Mods & admins can see the URL and old time members know how to see the URLs if they wanted/needed to.

Other issue
vBulletin (forum engine/software) does not recognize if you observe daylight savings time. I get around the issue by selecting a timezone that compensates for the hour difference.

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

vBulletin
I was under the impression vbulletin was better than crappy old free php forums that can be hacked by many a clown and could tell the time, since you have to pay to use it.

Come on man... I am clearly not a spam bot.

Maybe not, but you look more and more like a jackass.

1. I can't recall the number of posts.

2. Winamp Forums uses a older version of vBulletin. I am not an admin therefor I don't have modification access to change/fix the time thing.

3. As already mentioned to Shanester, it is nothing against you and that goes to anyone. It is something that is applied to all new members. It is not as if the vBulletin software can read minds and tell the difference between people who are joining to spam or not. The modification was with reluctance, but was needed because huge number of spam that was hitting the forums.

Don't take things so personally.

Thanks for the clarifications.

May I suggest adding these new user restrictions to the forum FAQs? Alternatively, you could create a new topic and make it "sticky".

A new "sticky" topic might also be a good place to mention bugs/known issues in vBulletin that affect the user.

It seems that I am not the first person to have asked these questions - I think in part because the new user restrictions are not documented in the online help or FAQ.

Regards,
Shane.

Wally is the perfect one

Well, at least I now know the reason I couldn't see links that I needed to see, and its not because I am a new user account here, its because the world is filled with real jackasses who make spam bots for money making purposes. It was annoying asking and not knowing and few people sparing the seconds needed to tell you what the problem is. So maybe you might agree that a problem caused by someone else that everyone has to pay for by way of being enrolled as an assumed genuine user after an allotted time, is annoying.

More to the point, when I am finished with this site I am working on, I'll show the forum so you can all see exactly how much of a jackass spambot I am.

Thanks for the insult wally. You are just perfect.

It is not that you asked the question, but how many times you asked it, and kept going on about it.
You started a few threads of your own,
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....91#post2512791
cross-posting as you were at it,
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....14#post2513814

and than you jumped on other threads to continue your rant.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....16#post2513616
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....43#post2514543
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....78#post2515478

That's the sign of a troll and a true jackass.

You should've quit when you got your first answer, I believe that was by me also. I might have exagerated the lenght of time and the number of posts, but the answer was true.
