When saving a new title format - reload playlist
Hi folks. I don't know if this is a bug fix request or a feature wish
![]() When changing something in the Titles settings and then clicking Close thus saving the new title format, Winamp asks if it should reload all of the titles of the playlist. I'm one of those people who load ALL of my music into one mo-fo playlist. I don't use the media library. Winamp should follow the settings of "Metadata reading" in Titles settings section, when asking to reload. If the setting is #2: "Read metadata when files are played or viewed in the playlist", then the above reload of the titles, should forget all earlier readings, but it should NOT load metadata of all the tracks in the playlist, only on sight or playing. With 17k tracks it takes about 5-10 minutes on my Core2Duo computer

In other words. When the playlist is refreshed after changing the AFT string, you would like to have "when to refresh" options similar to the Metadata Reading options.
I like that, however IMHO it would be better to have the "when to refresh" options separate from the Metadata Reading options. |

If AFT string is the string/code that creates the titles shown in the playlist - then yes
![]() I think it would be a nice way to use the same settings, then "when done editing the string, winamp shows the playlist the same way as when loading the playlist from scratch" - That's intuitive, isn't it? What would be a good reason not to combine it? Anywho, please make it not loading ALL of the playlists' information, it just takes too long If not using the metadata reading options, then give the user the choice, when done editing.Don't you agree? |

Typo on my part, that should have been ATF (Advanced Title Formatting). Basically yes, ATF is the string that generates the title format in the playlist.
I understand what you are saying. However, when someone loads a playlist from scratch, they are not necessarily going to have a "ton" files loading in to the playlist. So, how one wants the metadata to be read upon loading a playlist may be different from when the playlist is refreshed after changing the ATF string. |

flushing the titles (as i think seems to be the request) is possible though if loading times is an issue then why not make use of the option #4 on the titles page which does play+view+background update (an extension of option #2)?

Never used this before, it does take a while.
Is it quicker to clear the PE, change ATF and reload the playlist? UJ |

My only request is to give the user the choice.
I know a lot of people uses Winamp the same way as me, loading all the music into the playlist and using queue, if there is speciel music that is requested, otherwise just go thru the whole playlist over the days and weeks - or using shuffle. Give the user the choice, that's the request. I trust, that the developers find the best way to do this. (It could be the choices given in Titles options screen, basically) /eSKape |
