Stuttering in Windows 7 x64
Asus P6T Deluxe v2 mobo
Intel i7 920 & Super Talent DDR 1600 2gb x 3 Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music Gigabyte 4890OC Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DirectX 11 Clean installation of Winamp v5.57 w/no 3rd party plug-ins I've noticed a stuttering during the playback of my mp3's. I store them on a file server. At first I was wondering if it was a latency issue. I then copied an affected file to my main rig and played it directly from the same machine. I still was experiencing stuttering. This was affecting almost every file on my file server so I thought that maybe my files had gotten corrupted during the many transfers to ever larger storage drives. I had been using Winamp for almost 10 years without problem. I have one of the fastest quad core processors, plenty of memory, and a dedicated sound card. I am not short on resources. Then I decided to attempt to playback an affected file in Windows Media Player. NO STUTTERING! I read all of Winamps suggestions and applied them, including increasing the buffer levels for streaming (MPEG input) and DirectSound (output). I'm still experiencing stuttering. Like I said, I don't lack for resources. Affected files work fine in WMP. I even changed my skin back to classic just to troubleshoot. Still nothing. What else can I do? |
