Notes:

-Re: Improved: [ml_local/in_mp3] Write ratings to POPM frame in id3v2 tags:

_ This is still a work-in-progress and support is currently enabled via a hidden .ini option only.
_ With Winamp closed, open %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins\gen_ml.ini in Notepad.
_ Add the following line: writeratings=1
_ Save gen_ml.ini

_ We are now using the standard WMP 0-256 scale for 1-5 ratings (read & write).
_ For mp3, ratings are written to the POPM id3v2 frame.

_ Support for other formats (wma, ogg, flac, mp4) to be implemented later.

-Re: Improved: New 256x256 icons for Win7/Vista (with filetypes support via gen_jumpex):

_ The built-in icon support is for winamp.exe, winampa.exe and the installer/uninstaller.
_ Filetype support is provided via the native Jump to File Extra plugin (gen_jumpex.dll)
_ and, at long last, implements different icons for different filetypes :-)
_ A selection of Icon library packs is available below.
_ Close Winamp. Install the icon pack (icon dll's are installed to the %ProgramFiles%\Winamp\Icons folders). Open Winamp.
_ You can change/select icon packs via: Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Jump to File -> Extras
_ The "Enable File Types prefs page additions" option should be checkmarked (icon pack installation enables it).
_ Select the icon pack of your choice via the drop-down menu.
_ Click 'Allow'/'Continue' if presented with a UAC prompt (on Win7/Vista).
_ Although the following will be automatically enabled, you can confirm the icon pack is active by:
_ 1) Going to the "Prefs -> File Types" page and making sure both the File & Playlist icons are set to the very bottom position on the slider.
_ 2) Opening any folder in Windows containing Winamp-associated filetypes and seeing the icon(s) change in real-time.

_ Icon Pack preview/presentation video (wmv, 18mb)

-Re: New: [ml_downloads] Improved download manager for Podcasts and Online Services:

_ The "Downloads" view in the media library is now a separate node.
_ There's a hidden .ini option available to make it return to old behaviour (where it was a child of the Podcast Directory):

_ %AppData%\Winamp\Plugins\gen_ml.ini --> podcast_parent=1

_ You can also set the following to make the Downloads view always-visible:
_ no_auto_hide=2

-Re: Improved: [ml_wire] Various tweaks to Subscriptions view:

_The 'Time' and 'Size' columns will only be populated for new subscriptions,
_and only if the relevant data is available in the rss feed.

-Re: Improved: [pmp_ipod] Support for newer gen Classic models:

_ 5th gen Classic iPod models are now supported.
_ Alas, support for iPod models using sqlite database (iPhone, Touch & 5th gen Nano models) is still not implemented :-(
_ Maybe for the next major release... we shall see....

Reporting Bugs:

Please report all bugs in the Bug Reports forum!
Make sure your report is complete, according to the sticky threads in Bug Reports, ie.
Clean install, no 3rd-party plugins, list of plugins, full step-by-step method of reproduction, relevant system specs,
exact error messages, screenshots, which skin (one of Classic, Modern, or Bento only, or all three), links to sample files, etc.
If error reports, screenshots, sample files, etc are smaller than 200kb, then please attach them to your post. Otherwise, please upload to one of stashbox.org, mediafire.com, or sendspace.com and post the url here (no rapidshare or imageshack or similar links please).

For problems with AVI, MKV & MP4/M4V videos, be sure to also tell us what the video & audio codecs are...
Relevant info can be found via the "View File Info" (Alt+3) dialog
(if attaching a screenshot for AVI/MKV, be sure to make Codec ID/Name columns wide enough first).

Note that incomplete/lame bug reports may be totally ignored.

__________________________________________________________________________

Known Issues:

-The installer might appear to freeze on older/slower systems during the "Optimizing..." phase towards the end.
_Please be patient. It hasn't frozen, and will get there eventually...

-Subtitle support still isn't implemented yet (.srt for AVI; Sub Station Alpha/Advanced SSA for MKV)

-File info & length/metadata detection for streaming (http) avi isn't implemented yet

-h.263 inside MP4 container still needs a lot of work (support has therefore been disabled until the next release)

-The Korean & Chinese language packs have not been updated for this release.
_Some new dialogs/options/etc may not be visible when using any of these packs.
_If anyone is willing to help in updating them, then please say so below, or send a PM to DJ Egg.
_Check out the documentation first to help you determine whether or not you'll be capable...
_Some of the other lang packs have only been partially updated
_(the French, German, Polish, Turkish, Portuguese-Br, Japanese, Russian & Romanian packs are fully/mostly up-to-date).
_You can also send me a PM if you spot any inaccurate translations in any of the other lang packs,
_or if you can provide translations for any strings that are still in English (be sure to be specific).

Exciting! A new release

However, Koopa, the Essentials installer doesn't seem to work for me. None of my plugins appear to get updated after running it..

Also, Pawel, all the filetype icons seem to be askew in your Black theme.. my mp3s show up as MPC and I renamed one to an mp2 and it shows as MP4. The icons LOOK great though

Honestly I cannot reproduce your issue. It's working fine here and I wonder, that it was working before for you. *shrugs*

All EP installer I did use the SetOverWrite IfNewer statement, but no idea why it fails for you.

Please lemme know if this fixes your issue:

http://meggamusic.co.uk/shup/1277796...ials_v5.58.exe

I'm forcing an overwrite of the existing files.

koopa: i bet it is because all the plug in dlls are re-based which will change the file time (done in the optimising stage of the install process).

osmosis: is it just the black theme which has issues or any other ones (just want to double-check before it is looked into).

[edit]
Just looks like the black one is wrongly indexed for some of the icons and also seems to be missing a few - a simple fix for pawel to do

dsp_sps.dll - still no joy with this, config is greyed out.

Looks OK on XP, maybe a win7 problem.

not too sure what you mean as the dialog all appears to work ok when i just tried it though it did look a bit washed out but that seems to be the case with some dialogs on Win7 anyway. i know the dialog needs to be fixed to use the correct font and have some unicode ui support but not sure when that will happen.

Analyzer Viz is still a little bit slow comparing to 5.56 in default settings
Even on the fastest mode is not 100% fluid.
I know this is detail but still is...

The build # is now 2975

The only differences between 2974 and 2975 are:
-French lang pack has been updated
-in_avi, in_cdda & pmp_ipod plugin versions have been bumped (no actual code changes)

I've also reuploaded and updated the links which fix the above-reported issues with the icon pack and Essentials Pack.

Any chance for an update installer 5.572 -> 5.58?

BTW, after installing 5.58 over 5.572 (including the essentials), I receive "IN_CUE.dll not found". Dunno if this is related to my plug-ins or to the Winamp update.

it's easier to just get the complete installer as most of the plug-ins were altered in some way after 5.572 so just an update pack wouldn't be that much different in size.

as for the in_cue.dll thing, sounds like you've one of the cue player plug-ins installed and its no longer compatible with this newer Winamp version.

Honestly, there are a lot of icon packs available. Saying you don't like any of them without any explanation is really lame. It's also a kick in the face for the guy, who spent many, many hours of his freetime to create such packs.

Sometimes it's better, if you don't publish your own opinion. Additionally, nobody will stop you to create your own, better looking icon packs.

And that's just my poor opinion.

The Icon library concept also has game music icons included, take a look at the attachments.

Currently working for Amiga Oktalyzer, Mod, Mega Drive/Genesis (requires YMAMP v2.5) and Sega Master System audio files.

There are icons in the icon libraries for spc, sid, usf, psf, nsf files etc too, but the input plugins require an update to make it work, though.

PS: My external German language pack installer translates YMAMP and a couple of other plugins as well.

How did this sneak in here? Usually I get a notice when the old thread was closed. I guess the Mods are getting sneaky. How exciting! A surprised. Thanks to the winamp team again.

Hi All, I am getting a crash that I have not gotten before.
I am posting here because I think that I have tracked the crash to the Essentials Pack.
I have including My Plugins List and a screenshot of the setting that makes it crash.
If I click on "Add to Winamp's Bookmark List" in both of the menus and then click close, Winamp will crash.
I have tried it when I do not have the essentials pack installed and everything seems to work fine, but when I install the essentials pack and try it again, it will crash. I do not have the bookmark plugin installed and that is usually why I uncheck the menu item. This is the first time I have seen this happen.
I am using Windows 7 and now it doesn't seem to give an error log. If someone can tell me how to produce that I will be happy to. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Juanus:

I can reproduce the crash. It happens only, if I select 'Add to Winamp's bookmarks' under 'Folder Context Menu' in Shell Options.

I've disabled all EP dll files, but it still crashes, so I doubt that it's related to one of the files.

@Juanaus

Thanks

I can reproduce the crash on Win7 without any EP plugins installed, and with ml_bookmarks present.
Looks like the bug is in gen_jumpex.dll, at a guess, seeing as that's what adds the Shell Options page.

And yes, it only happens with the Folder Context Menu bookmarks option.

Winamp client version: 5.58
winamp caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
in module USER32.dll at 0023:754760cb

The crash.log has a reference to:
HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\Shell\Winamp.Bookmark

Hey, Cool Beans. I am glad that I was able to give enough info. How did you pull the crash report from Win7? I upgraded from XP and now I don't know where to find it.

We got the crash report from Nullsoft Error Feedback tool, which is only available in internal/public beta builds.

http://nunzioweb.com/daz/jtfe_dev.html#30/06/2010 should resolve the crash issue (hadn't crashed for me though it was never handling the bookmark directory context menu). and also the example language file in there should now be native en-us rather than my en-gb

If you have issues with Winamp or still want to get it, ensure
you get v5.666 build 3516 and the required plug-in updates

dsp_sps.dll - still no joy with this, config is greyed out.

Looks OK on XP, maybe a win7 problem.

Juanus: thanks for the confirmation that it's working ok now (knew something would get through considering all of the changes made to the plug-in).

I think this is related to the 'Winamp Essentials Pack v5.58'
specifically 'New: [gen_classicart] Album Art Viewer plugin v0.7'

I havn't really bothered that much with artwork before, but now ive started
getting cover-art for a some albums..

If I open a playlist, then takes view fileinfo on the track playing, clicking the artwork tab
Load artwork button.. I then select the .jpg file in the folder.. it shows up in winamp this is good.
But, it makes a 2nd .jpg file in the folder !!

Ive usually have saved files as "Absolute Dance (1992)-front.jpg" or "Absolute Dance (1992)-small.jpg"
When I load Absolute Dance (1992)-front.jpg 238KB, it then creates a "Absolute Dance.jpg" 41.3KB
Why does this create a dupicate file instead of using the file that is selected ??
Im guessing ive found a bug here..

Yup, that is by design.

Winamp only reads album art if it has one of the following filenames:
%AlbumTitle%.jpg/gif/png/bmp
front.jpg
cover.jpg
folder.jpg

where %AlbumTitle% is the exact album title as specified in the tags, which in your example would be: Absolute Dance

If one of the above filenames already exists, then Winamp loads it automatically.

One workaround, if you didn't want duplicates, would be to either manually rename the art files
or to place an .nfo file (which can be a renamed .txt file) in the same folder and with the exact same filename as the jpg, e.g.

Absolute Dance (1992)-front.nfo

Winamp will then automatically load Absolute Dance (1992)-front.jpg

Note, it's got nothing to do with the Album Art Viewer plugin for Classic Skins from the EP.

Do I need a new pair of glasses or is there still an issue with the Black icon pack. Nothing seems to match up, MOD icons for MID files, FLV for skin file, PLS icon for ogg files (and so on). Only with the black icon library. Winamp IconPack 1.5, downloaded from the main and mirror 2 link.

[edit] Never mind, it is working now. Hmmm, strange. Perhaps it was the icon cache, I had tried the previous icon library earlier. Or, maybe I really do need a new pair of glasses.

BTW Great job to everyone with the WA update, file type support and icon packs.

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

Ehm you are one of the developers ?
Can't you make this
*front*.jpg
*cover*.jpg
*folder*.jpg

or perhaps have somewhere where the user could add this to add for example *small*.jpg wich I use for smaller files wich are later to be replaced with a larger file if it can be found.

Then 'Artist - Albumname (year)-front.jpg' would automatically load.. to have 1000 files called "folder.jpg" feels counterproductive to give informative filenames.

it's a hack the jtfe plugin offers which i enabled by default so i can more easily flip between flies when i've been testing some 3rd party input plug-in fixes and was never really intended for saving multiple edits in one go but rather to look at things and then edit one last file. i suppose i'll have to see if i can bodge a save button into things when i've the time (as i am now on a break from all things Winamp development for a while).

Hello there,

I reported a bug with the new Play, Stop, Pause buttons in the Win7 taskbar.

For some reason if i run Winamp from desktop shortcut i have no problems and can see them in my Win7 taskbar.
However by doubleclicking MP3 file (this action loads my file into Winamp too), i cannot see any buttons in my taskbar.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate german (de-DE) and Winamp 5.58.2975 with german language pack.

The same is, when i switch from Bento to Classic or Modern skin and back to Bento. I can see no buttons in there.

No Essentials installed.

I couldn't personally reproduce the problem, but someone else on the team could... though only sporadically.
It'll be looked into.
Thanks.

ps. re: your post below
The updated JTFE fixes a crash in Prefs -> Shell Options (as referenced above).
It's got nothing to do with the taskbar buttons issue.

I updated to 5.58 and I don't see any change in regard to the Windows 7 taskbar at all. What am I missing?

Updated my JTFE plugin from http://nunzioweb.com/daz/jtfe_dev.html#30/06/2010 link.

Now the bug with switching from Bento to other skins (Win7 taskbar buttons thing) seem to be fixed.

However i cannot see these buttons when running Winamp from MP3 files.

PS: the switching problem is not fixed.

Using following specs:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)
Locale: German de-DE
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40 GHz
Memory: 3GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon 5700 HD PCIE
Sound: Realtek HD Audio Device
Direct X: Direct X 11
