So, while digging around on the hard drive here, I found this (see attached)

It was going to be a 'Sequel' to a skin I made about 6 years ago, again more retro video gaming action.

It was also going be a 'Prequel' to the 3d skin I'm now working on, basically it's the middle part of a trilogy of games.

it ended up however as a collection of random stuff on a .psd.

So, finish it up or not bother.

Not sure I've touched this since 2007, not even sure if I still have the original sprite set anywhere, mind you I could always extract them from a ROM or something if need be.

Ooooh, I remember now why I enjoy this skinning lark....

So buoyed on by the swell of public demand it looks like this is now a goer!

Bored today, so did a test playlist to see if it would work, amazingly it does, well for me anyhow...

Sooo, it does indeed look like 'Sabremans adventures will continue in the Underwurlde.....'

Bored now, might give it a break for a few days, spent too long making cursors for it, I'm pixelated out ....

So, apparently this did exist, found traces of it on my old laptop using a recovey program, two folders, both recover, sadly information within them seems corrupt, files are there and reporting correct file sizes, but no dice.

Anyone know of a good bmp reconstruction software?

Guess I still have the psp file and I've found a couple of the cursors that I'd animated for it, suppose it could be rebuilt if I had the inclination....

Jones, for a while now you've been wandering about the classic forums *looking* and reminiscing in the past of your skins. Saying things like "if I had the inclination" and what not.

I say jump on it, hell I'll even help ya do it if you so wished.

I think that it all comes down to whether you want to, or don't. That choice is yours to make; I hope you make the more fun choice.

yeah, I know what you mean matey.

Couple of things work against me really.

Number 1, Dont' have the opportunity to skin much at work now, moved desk and I'm a bit more visible now

Number 2, Pretty much stopped using a PC at home in favour of the iPad

Bit narked that this one is *gone*, like I say, recovered it twice off an old machine, but no dice, PSP and cursors exist elsewhere, but as for the skin...

Gone.. guess could reconstruct it from the PSP, screenshots here and so on....

Tempting.

Amazes me that I didn't pick anything up to skin last year, I think the whole database shuffle that happened at the end of 2010 put me off, I had a load of stuff ready and couldn't submit it, then life took turns for the worst and well, 2011 total write off.

By the way Mike, not sure what happened to you mate, you used to be a right irritating little twat back when you joined, you've turned into a fairy decent guy overall, well played

I can see a lot of them things putting you off, I would be pretty put off but you still seem to have the drive to *want* to skin. If I knew you I'd come kick you but that is not an option...

Would love to see you try

The good news is, at least two cursors survive from this skin,which may not seem like much, but there was a lot of effort went into them to animate them, so.....

Handfull of screen caps, cursors, psp file , plus one or two bitmaps I can reuse from it's sister skin, might have lift off

Remind me I said that in two years time...

Might have an update by the end of the day

Rebuilt most of the main window, so far the following works......

Title bar + Closers (not easter egg bar)
Tickers and numbers (they were a copy over from a sister skin, so easy peasy)
Pos bar rebuilt from screen grabs in here.
CButtons all done and working
Shuff / Rep done and dusted.
Most of background dropped into place
Vis Done (copy over from sister skin)

Vol Bar and Balance will take some re-doing as they were animated, have the individual frames off the psp file, but will need to drop them in place.

EQ/PL toggles to do

Mono / Stereo need to do from scratch, they dont' seem to exist on the layer file, I probably added them in directly, have them in the screenshots above, so should be able to figure it out.

Rest of skin... nothing to report, struggling to recall what I did for the eq sliders, sure they were animated somehow, but not a clue with what....

might see if I can get most of the main boxed off by the end of the day, time permitting...

Hows that then eh

As I was really bored....

Mono / Stereo redone
EQ / PL toggles redone (most of this was on the layer file)
Vol Bar redone (individual frames existed on the layer file, so cut paste cut paste etc)

Not bad for a mornings work heh

/oh, and Balance as well , think that completes the main window with the exception of the shade mode....

Although I must admit I spent a good hour or so trying to fix the old recovered files I have to no success , shame really as I recovered at least 2 versions of the skin and several other files, non of which would open in anything I tried.

Not quite up to speed on fixing things like MFT's and the like.....

MIght have a bit of a crack at the PL today, have reference shots to that above, so can work with that...

Playlist boxed off, shades to, I always without fail leave the shades until last.

Started on the EQ, now for the life of me I don't know if I ever got around to the EQ last time around, the screenshot above is taken from the layer file and to be honest, it's not quite how I remember it and the shot of the skin in action has no eq on it at all, so......... hacked all that apart and got most of the background sorted and the eq bars are kind of ready...

Had lunch, had a better idea to blend the windows together, so threw half of the EQ window out and rejigged it a bit to blend a bit more, looks better in my opinion, will work more on that this afternoon.

To do on there however will be buttons and sliders, no intention of working on those today.

Will try cap it before I leave tonight...

I told my self not to pick up another skin and work on the projects I have planned... But I want to do another. I lost all of my previous skins that I had started due to a fromat that I had to do. The viruses won.

EDIT/ I got lucky with Puniceus had it up on google docs.

Having had a week off, well I say a week off, no work was done mainly because that old real life work stuff got in the the way, how rude...

Thought I'd ease myself back in with a couple of simple windows, hit a bit of a block on eq buttons and still have those dreaded shade modes to think about...

A progress report, cos I know everyone is interested

Completed the video windows (and the browser windows, yes I know no one uses it but old habits die hard), completed the gen frame, gen buttons I might be able to re-use from it's sister skin.....

Also completed the mikro skin, yes I still use it...and the main window shade mode, looks like shit, but what can you do.

Struck me today, I first considerd doing this skin back in August 2003 after completing my SabreWulf skin, blimey, nearly ten years ago, crazy.

Anyhoooo,anyone recommend a decent cursor editor that free without any limitations?, had a really good one when I last looked at this back in 2010, can't for the life of me recall what it was and it vanished when my memory stick expired...

I could just stick with the two cursors I have already made, but do know I had ideas for a couple of additional ones at the time which I'd like to complete...

So... I finished the shades, all crap

, finished up the gen windows, finished up the EQ buttons....

Think that might be it, other than contemplating some EQ animations, but I'm aware that if I do that I'm in danger of straying away from the original source material, so maybe not.

Cursors left to do and maybe a bit of a tidy up and bug squash.....

Skinning seemed fun again....
