one on one connection via internet

good morning everyone!

first of all: I really did search the last thousand threads but I didn't find what I was looking for. maybe my question is too simple but maybe I'm just too dump :-(

I want to play music in my winamp and my friend should be able to connect to me via internet. I don't have a server, but I can tell my friend via ICQ what my current IP is whenever he wants to connect to me. I also know how to open a port in my router.

what is the minimum requirement that I need to do / install / configure? What has he to do as 'listener'? we really only need a 'one on one' connection.

thanks a lot in advance.

Maybe Winamp Remote? It is like a P2P music playback system, allowing you to share your music with others with a internet connection (more Info/FAQ). It is one of the default install options when Winamp is installed. However, if you don’t have it installed go here for a download link.

Hello JonnyMac,

thank you for your answer, I really appreciate it.
But when I see it clear then Winamp Remote makes the songs available for another user (pc) but doesn't play them automatically when they are played on the 'server'-pc, right?
What I am looking for is like this:
- I open WinAmp on my pc
- my friend opens WinAmp on his pc
- somehow a connection will be established (I can tell my friend my current IP and forward a port)
- I play a song in my WinAmp and this song will start playing on his pc at the same time without sending the file 'as file'
- when I pause/skip/stop the music it stops at my friend as well
So it's like me creating and sending a stream and him just doing a playback of what I am sending.
Or am I wrong and this is possible with WinAmp Remote?

thanks a lot in advance once more

Basically it is not automatic and it is the remote user that slects and plays back from a list that is derived from your ML.

I am not aware of something that will allow you to act as a "DJ" with needing a server. Anyone else???

Just use shoutcast, a simple private single listener max set up would work fine for this.

Winamp remote acts as a server pretty much anyway, JM.

Yup, I realized that. I was thinking not getting a server “in addition to”. Or, maybe I am just overly confusing my self.
