Sync with device
I'm syncing a playlist with a device. When I remove a song from the playlist in Winamp, and hit Sync, a pop-up windows tells me that there a songs on the device which are not in the local media library. I'm not sure what this means, because the files are in the local media library on my PC, and I'm asked to choose weather to leave them, delete them or copy them to local media library. How does this work.
I want to have the song removed from the device when I sync after I have removed the song from the playlist on the PC. Regards Frank |

Anyone else getting driven nuts by this?
Whenever I do syncs for my phone (HTC Desire) says there are 3600 MP3s on my phone but not on my PC when actually the songs on the phone came from there. Does anyone know why this happens, and what is the solution? |

With the device attached, have a look at Preferences\Media Library\Portables\Device Name\ and see if there is anything in there that may help. These are the preferences for how Winamp handles the device.

Hi Batter Pudding,
No luck, can't see what setting would fix it. Any help is really appreciated, I can't see what I have possibly done wrong.... or is it a bug? Seems to have happened to a few people. Please Winamp fix it up.... |

@joebloggscity: I assume what is happening is Winamp is seeing the tracks and assume they are "new". I would start by checking the exact file paths in the Winamp settings and on the phone. Make sure they match.
Then look to see if the phone is making changes after the transfer. For example, some devices like to have the .MP3 bit in upper case. When you transfer music, are conversions occurring? Does it change formats? On the advanced page is there a correct list of file types the phone supports? Also worth double checking that the three Winamp files are getting written to the root of the phone. There are winamp_metadata.dat, winamp_metadata.idx and pmp_usb.ini (the last of these being readable in notepad). I believe that these are the files that Winamp uses to remember how it is supposed to handle yoru phone and what has already been transferred. It could be that these are not getting written or something. |
