error X5608: Compiled shader code uses too many arithmetic instruction slots (70).

I have tested every single MilkDrop preset on latest 5.61 and found these four too be buggy on every shader version 2, 2.x, 3 and 4, the rest are OK:
• Flexi + fiShbRaiN - operation fatcap I.milk
• Flexi + Shifter - sublimal spaceship.milk
• Flexi - fractal descent.milk
• Flexi - fractals with a twist.milk

error X5608: Compiled shader code uses too many arithmetic instruction slots (70). Max. allowed by the target (ps_2_0) is 64

I thought that these only come up if modifications were done and system or drivers are not updated but I am using the latest drivers and my system should be OK:

those presets were removed from the 5.61 installer but the installer doesn't remove existing presets from what i remember so they'll still be there (as you're seeing). so unless flexi or someone fixes them, it's not really something that'll be looked into from the Winamp side of things now.

If you have issues with Winamp or still want to get it, ensure
you get v5.666 build 3516 and the required plug-in updates

Thank you.

Is there a list of removed presets because they were buggy in previous versions of Winamp?

i think you've worked them out yourself, there might have been one other but as they're not in cvs anymore i cannot tell without comparing myself between what is installed with 5.601 and 5.61 (and i just cba to do that in all honesty).

Yes, I am certain that these are the only four. I tested all of them.

I actually started using Winamp only with version 5.601, so I thought maybe this is a regular occurrence with new releases. Winamp has come a long way since I first tried it back in the 1990s and I haven't used it since.

Visualizations is what made me start using it.

So what do you usually, do you just get the MilkDrop version and presets that come with the latest version of Winamp? Or do you get them elsewhere. I tested all of them to get rid of the ones I didn't like.

i don't generally run vis plug-ins (pointless if Winamp is minimised or i'm doing development in it) so i just leave whatever is in the installed folder.

btw, the editors are still broke in the official download and I'm using v2.22beta for editing presets.

which editors? tbh i can't remember what had or hadn't been done as things had gotten to a v2.23 but now for 5.61 it's all been reverted to v2.2 so it works for users again.

well i was under the impression that v2.23 fixed things completely in the preset editors that otherwise were broken in the v2.21/v2.22 (as you're using the beta v2.22 a number of things were probably changed after that) but as it's all been reverted i've no idea now how v2.2 (now the supported version again) works or not. and my lesson learnt, never get involved with anything vis related especially when trying to do favours for people.

well it seems 2.21 (known to have the broken editor menu) was included instead of 2.2. just use whatever you want to edit things and direct all complaints with things being broken to the person who wanted the changes made...
