upgrade to 5.621 from 5.601; application hangs on startup

I installed version 5.621 of Winamp.
I installed version 5.621 over the prior version 5.601 (something like 5.6*). I did not uninstall the prior version. The new version was installed in the same location as the old version.

Now Winamp hangs when it starts.

I'm guessing I have uninstall and then install. Ugh...
I'm just posting this here in case other people see the same issue.
