Who handles Metadate info to ASCAP, BMI, etc...
Who handles the legal reporting of songs that I play so I know how much to pay ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and SoundExchange or do we automatically get a blanket, Statutory license once we have a show on SHOUTcast?
Also, can I broadcast as often as I want, for as long as I want? Thanks very much, Andrew |

the SHOUTcast service is not responsible for such things with reporting - that is something you have to do either manually or via any broadcasting tools you're using.
am sure someone with more information will give you pointers. as for when and how long with broadcasting, that all depends on how much you can afford for streaming bandwidth, song fees, etc. so essentially you can broadcast when you want for however long, but there's so many other things needing to be taken into account whether you can legitimately run it for the time that you want to. -daz |

Ya, AOL/Shoutcast do not pay royalties for broadcasts. That's the responsibility of each station. Most DJ software packages provide reports (SAM Broadcaster does, for example)
As for licensing, you have a couple of options. Go "Direct" with the PROs (EMI is in the mix too, now, since they pulled part of their catalog from ASCAP) or go with an already-licensed network (Live365, LoudCity, Loudcaster) |

Greetings:
As dotme pointed out, SAM Broadcaster can generate all the required playlist reports, and it has other tools to ensure your broadcast is compliant. If you want an automated solution, it's worth checking out. --Randall Executive Director, SWCI www.smallwebcaster.org // Redefining Music Royalties for Small Webcasters Legal Disclaimer: The information hereinbefore is not intended to constitute legal advice or consultation nor does it form a legally binding contract. |
