Best alternative to iPod Classic
Gday!
Tired of dealing with hardware issues on my ipod classic 80gb, after years of pain with this device I want to get away from apple for good. Looking for an mp3 player that's best for winamp. She must be able to rate, record play counts, at least 80gb, and sync with my smart views in winamp. What portable player does winamp love best? Looking at the Zunes... But after a late night Googling, they don't seem very winamp friendly? and don't handle rating songs well? |

I'm not a Mac fanboy, but I think you'd really have a problem finding something better than the Ipod Touch. It's not the most durable thing in the world, but if you don't drop it......... I haven't managed to kill my iphone 3G in three years.
You can bitch about Apple reliability, but they still have better customer satisfaction than anyone else. Ipads, iphones and iTouches.... people I know love em' If you wanted a phone too.... you probably couldn't go too wrong with the Galaxy Nexus. The Android Winamp is pretty good. I pretty much don't sync, usually don't use Winamp unless I want the visual goodies. Winamp is on my main desktop with my music, but I usually use Google Play and sync that. Leaves room for movies and apps on my Android tablet (a rooted Kindle), my iphone and any of my 3 computers. Global Movies and TV God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to hide the bodies of people who pissed me off. |

I would not describe myself as a fanboy per se, but I do use a lot of apple products.
However, if I were looking at something different, I would be looking at cowon/JetAudio products. Sadly, I don't think you are going to find much in the range of an iPod classic anymore from anyone. |

It's not just an mp3 player, it's a voip phone, it plays games, runs apps, takes pictures..
I don't see that as sad. I think it's pretty cool. The latest touch even has that new A4 processor and dual cameras. Add talkatone and a Google voice number and it's a voip phone. It Skypes too. On the new model, with video. Way more than an mp3 player. I've never owned an apple product, from Mp3 players to phones. Not once. Anything that I can upload music to without installing any sort of program to use is good in my books.
Click and drag through windows explorer is the best. I'm also drunk. |

I agree about itunes, but that mattered a lot more when MP3 players were little. How many albums did you need to take? I have 50 on my phone with plenty of room for apps and stuff.
I can get the rest of them off Google Play if I have wifi. I liked drag and drop because my 128MB player didn't hold much music. I'd drop a few albums on the player and go. When you've got 16GB to manage, you sorta need a manager. And when you have 50 albums on the phone, you probably didn't care anyway. They'res something on there....... Itunes does a pretty good job of managing the phone/touch. Winamp is what I use for playing music on my PC's. Popping up itunes to add an album or podcasts to the phone isn't a biggie.
