Keep Getting Fatal Error....HELP!

OK, so I started up Shoutcast today, and this is what I saw:

<06/05/12@19:16:23> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.9.8 (Feb 28 2007) starting up...
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files (x86)\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] initializing (usermax:32 portbase:8000)...
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban)
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip)
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] opening source socket
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] source thread starting
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] opening client socket
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [main] error opening client socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port!
<06/05/12@19:16:23> [source] listening for connection on port 8001

I do not believe that I have changed any of my settings....this was running fine yesterday. Little help, please?

make sure there is definitely no other DNAS instances already running as that is the common cause of such an error.

also i appreciate it is annoying to have issues but bumping a thread within 6hrs is not going to get help any sooner (and is often likely to put people off replying).

There are no other instances of DNAS running. Might it be that I'm having trouble with my ports? I've tried everything!

make sure NOTHING has port 8000 open (not just another DNAS)

in a command prompt type

netstat -ano

look for port x.x.x.x:8000 in the Local Address column (the x.x.x.x can be any number)

the last column is the process ID of the process that has the port open

General Shoutcast troubleshooting guide
  1. Ask a teenager
That should do it

Now I'm having a different problem, as Shoutcast won't connect.

that's pretty vague - what _exactly_ are you referring to as SHOUTcast? the DNAS? the source you're using? the Directory listing? the site player? as SHOUTcast is a general name for the platform / tools and not one specific part as your post is implying.

see http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcast_YP_Nak_Errors as you need to do some port forwarding (as the log indicates) on port 8000 which will involve editing things in your router.

only to make sure the DNAS is configured to be allowed through the Windows Firewall or any other firewall software you are using.

though i will ask why you've gone back to v1.9.5 when your first post showed v1.9.8 being used (i'm not even going to try to get you to use the v2 DNAS as it'll probably cause more problems in it's current state if the v1 DNAS is already causing you issues). if you are going to use a v1 DNAS then you should be using v1.9.8.

Hmmm. Seems people can't connect, and I've tried everything I know how to do. Could it be Comcast is blocking port 80, or I have a private IP?

you're mentioning port 80 but the log clearly indicates the DNAS it running on port 8000 - is that a typo in your post or are you trying to run it on port 80 but haven't changed ypport in the config file?

as for your internet provider blocking you, anything is possible though i've no specific knowledge when it comes to US providers.

though i'm not getting why you keep swapping between things working and things not working unless you or someone else is messing around with the install once it is running...

If you're using comcast, your need to specify your srcip and dstip for your public IP address. If you don't the computer is going to use the DHCP address which YP will not be able to access.

Also note that your public IP can and will expire and change at any time (unless you've paid for an account, generally a business account, with a Static IP address)

After several days of working on this, I'm back where I started, having fatal errors. I don't see that anything is running on port 8000 (unless I'm missing it). What's going on? Help!
