Usage of muktimedia keys in modern keyboards

Hello,
I have a microsoft keyboard with multimedia keys (these shortcut like play/pause, stop or forward). since up until pretty lately i used windows media player (and WOW, winamp is way better), i'm really used to using theswe keys all the time. there is a limited support in these keys' but i wondered if there is a plug in that gives full support. i find that many times there a "disconnection" between winamp and the media keys, and if i'm far from the computer (like if i plug in the compter to the tv and use only the wireless keyboard), i need to manuallly go and fix it.
what do i do? is there a plug-in that widens the support in multimedia keys?
