Empty ID3 Tags, Blank Title Fields, Portable Device

I’m having some problems with the media library whilst browsing the contents of my portable device. This image can hopefully make the following explanation more clear.

http://i.imgur.com/uKK2A.png?1

There are many songs listed on the portable device that do not have any ID3 tag information. These songs, when viewed in the library, have empty title fields. Yet when I double click one of these songs the title, in the form of the filename, can be seen in the top left and right of the player whilst the song in question plays.

I have searched the forums for how to fix this and the only post I could find that remotely resembled this problem…
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....ht=title+blank
… did not help.

Curiously the same files listed under local media have a title and appear to have sprouted their own metadata… but only in Winamp…

In the end all I’m looking to do is use Winamp on my PC to create some playlists for Winamp on my portable device, but it’s hard to organize things when there are about 600 songs that have no details in the media library.

And now for as much of that stuff in the “info required when posting” that I care to type out…

I am using Winamp Standard v5.63
I can confirm that this problem persists after a clean install.
As far as I’m aware there are no 3rd party plugins to be concerned about.
I don’t really think my hardware spec are relevant to this issue, but feel free to call me out on that one if you want.
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

I have a feeling this is something obvious. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi yggdrasil,

What you are looking at there is a WAV file, which generally has no tagging information at all. Several attempts have been made to provide a standard, including the use of !D3, but all have failed.

This is apparent in the Android view, where Winamp is unable to show any tagging.

In the Media Library Winamp has the ability to use a smart reading approach if there are no tags and will do it's best to get artist, title etc. from the folder and file structure.

I have always arranged my music in a standard way ... Music/Artist/Album/Title.mp3 and the ML will interpret these correctly if it finds no other tags in the file.
See Prefs > Local Media > Configure > ...

So what you're asking for I guess is that the Android view does the same as the Library.

Thanks for your reply ujay.
The example you saw is indeed a wave file but this problem also occurs for MP3s without ID3 tag information.
Even if the smart reading approach was used for the Andrew library as it is for the local media library I’m not sure it would help. I don’t really care for information such as Artist or Album. All I need is a title. But the Title field for all of these music files in the library is blank. I would have thought that, failing to find a title from the ID3 tag, the Title field would instead be populated with the filename. But that’s not what I see. They’re all just blank.
