How to listen to shoutcast
Hey guys, i've tried setting up my own radio station, i've done everything right, i've installed everything and for the connection in winamp i was told to put in localhost but i want to change it to my ip so others can connect so I can broadcast but i cant find how to do it. I've read that you just have to send people the http://81.135.41.153:8000/listen.pls , that's my ip address but it wont play. Couldn't find a thread the same so i started a new one. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks -Dave |

you need to open port 8000 as it is not currently accessible outside of your network / machine. see the details about port opening at http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcast_YP_Nak_Errors (is more aimed at getting listed in the Directory but it still requires the same things to be done even if you don't want to be listed).

it wasn't responding when i tried at the time of my reply.
either way it now is showing me the DNAS summary page, however you don't have a source connected - you need to connect a source to the DNAS as otherwise giving out the link is never going to work. -daz |

you're not paying attention to what the DNAS is showing on the summary page as well as in it's log output. it is showing 'no YP connection' on the summary page and is also going to be showing a number of YP2 related errors in the output - yes it's not the most obvious of messages but it shows that something isn't right.
is this meant to be a listed stream? if yes then follow http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcas...ash_Management (as is said to do in the docs / getting started guide). if the DNAS is set to be public then unless you've got everthing setup correctly then it will block client connections as currently it is in an invalid state and will not allow client connections. if not then either uncheck the 'public' option on the DSP's YP tab or set publicserver=never in the DNAS's config file and restart the DNAS. -daz |

pre-emptive reply: remove the streampath=/test.aac line from the configuration file and re-start the DNAS (that was not present before so i'm assuming you've re-done the config file).
that is only needed if you were providing an AAC+ stream and will cause most clients to fail when trying to play it. and was only in the example config to show the streampath option but in most cases you can just leave that out and leave the DNAS using it's default values. -daz |
