That's hard to believe. Win 8 is supposed to be able to run most of what Win 7 can run.
Anyway, WA's long standing policy is to wait for a new OS to be released before making any needed compatibility changes. For a free app, it is not efficient to spend time and other resources on changes for a pre-release that may need to be changed again for the final release. from my own tests on the Win8 previews, it does work when run in the Win8 desktop mode (since that's all Winamp will be able to work) as the behaviour of Win8 is meant to be the same as that of Win7 and so far seems to hold true.
but really posts just saying "it doesn't work" are about as helpful as sticking a fork in my eye - if there is something wrong then say what, otherwise threads like this just waste everyone's time. -daz |

although WIndows 8 has gone RTM, that doesn't mean there is any 'official' downloads to test the behaviour on the release version. as said in my prior reply, the previews have worked the same as on Windows 7 (which is how it is meant to be) so unless you've selected / set a setting which conflicts.
until there is official access to the RTM version, then there is no official support from our side of the fence. and that crash report doesn't help too much other than something in winamp is calling an OS api function and it's not working correctly - what i cannot tell as ntdll.dll is a vague coverall for a lot of things in the OS. -daz |

Shoutcast radio in Winamp not working in Windows 8 RTM
1. Winamp (Version 5.63) works in Windows 8 Enterprise RTM for standard Media files. (MP3 etc)
2. However when selecting SHOUTcast radio in Media library it is not working. After clicking on "SHOUTcast Radio" then selecting a radio station screen in browser area goes "black" with no radio response |

i will point you at my reply in what is a win8 related thread.
however, it would have been far more helpful if the first post had _actually_ said what / where things were not working than just saying "it doesn't work". if it is _just_ the SHOUTcast Radio (and i'd have to expect other online views) not working, then that is going to stem from some changes made to the Webbrowser control provided by the OS (unless you're using a 'N' version which typically has that removed) which would most likely be able to be fixed server-side instead of having to do a client update (note: i could be wrong but as Win8 uses IE10 and that's what the Webbrowser control will be based on, there is likely some change which has happened compared to how it works on Win7 and previously). either way, you've both now provided some sort of information to work on so i would hope that when Win8 compatibility is officially checked then it will be fixed. -daz |

well now that i've got my hands on a Windows 8 RTM install, the SHOUTcast Radio view is working as expected for me. there have been changes to the view on the server side so maybe that has helped to resolve issues or one of the updates provided since Windows 8 went RTM has fixed it.
then again it could just be that the blank screen (which would have been easier to determine if a screenshot was provided) could be coming from the ads which are shown for US users (as my Windows 8 machine is only on a UK network so i cannot test US behaviour). -daz |

Rich Kreider has posted a workaround for this issue on his blog at:
http://www.techish.net/windows/winam...-in-windows-8/ It worked for me. |
